Hello all, this is my first post. Our family recently got a dog that someone was giving away and we're curious if anyone may have an idea what mix it may be. We think he's part German Sheppard and maybe besengi or something but I just wanted a 2nd opinion.

i would definetly say shepherd, but then again according to some people all mixes have shepherd in them. what is his coat like(rough, smoth, dense, oily)? how old is he, and how big is he?

He has short hair. Smooth, but coarse, similar to that of a GSD. He is estimated to be about 14 months old and weighs about 28 pounds. He's surprisingly very gentle and mild. He lets the kids do whatever they want to him and he has no aggression of any kind. He will bark and growl when someone is at the door though, but thats the only time he barks.

I'm probably soo off but for some strange reason his face is looking Canaan Dog to me. So I'm going to go with Canaan/Shepherd mix.

Wow that is not much in weight- he is a beautiful dog! I am not sure what I see there

its the weight that is throwing me, but im still thinking.

The weight is really confusing me too, I have several ideas on the breed but they would all be 40lb at the least!

Possibly Australian Cattle Dog, Mountain Feist? It is unlikely but possibly Ibizan hound somewhere in the mix?I'm going size and what little of his structure I can see.
I can see a little of the Basenji in size and some of his structure.
Does he have any traits of a herding or hunting breed? What about his energy and stamina?

my bet would be kelpie lab cross but I suppose that depends on what breeds are common in your area. Pretty cute looking dog- what ever the gene pool is-though!

Thanks for trying all, but I think my wife and I nailed down his dominant breed.
