Hi all
What breed do you think our puppies are. We were told by animal welfare that they were British X American Staffies. As they've got older we're less and less sure. They're really tall and lean and their snouts seem longer. They're also boundy and barky (we've been told these are not staffy traits). What do you think?

Oh, what is a british X american staffie anyway, I think that animal welfare definately lied to you. Pit bulls are great family dogs as long as there is a strong human leadership in the house.

Thanks! You've just confirmed what I suspected. My friend, whose a vet, said that they indicate their British x American cross so they can keep breeding them. I'm pretty strict with them. Heaps of people say they are the best behaved puppies....No probs at this stage.

I think so too! Just make sure that you give plenty of love and time to your puppies because it is not a breed that will thrive on it's own so you need to treat them as if they were a real person. Staffies also need good exercise and play. If you want to train them, you probably won't have a hard time because they can learn tricks quickly. Good luck!

Actually, I dont think AW 'lied' at all. How can anybody be sure without knowing the parentage/grand parentage?


To me, they look AmStaff x...Possibly some kind of hound.
OR a poorly bred AmStaff.

As you can see these dogs are tall, lean and sleek, the only thing making me think that the pups pictured are not full AmStaff, or a well bred AmStaff is that they have sleek, long faces as opposed to the preferred wide, short snouted faces.

Of course, the dog is almost definitely Pit Bull TYPE, which would mean it could be a mix of Staff, APBT, Bull Dog, etc.
