Need Help Identifying Breed
I found this dog a few weeks ago. Had door open on farm and just wandered into my house. What type of dog is it? Your expertise is greatly appreciated!!
(no idea of how old, or any other information) Does not have chip and wasn't dog tagged.
Thanks!!

it appears to be a Pom mix, not sure with what but the face and ears say Pom.

I agree- definitely pom mix. Maybe chihuahua-pom? maybe not though, as her hair doesn't really look like chi-pom hair.

Funny! This is what the English so fondly call "the little red dog". Ancestry unknowable. There are a few quite familiar breeds peeking out of there, but not one that is more evident than any other. Yes, I would agree some chihuahua, for sure, but as a breeder of Labs, that coat is almost like a Lab coat, a very unusual coat for a toy dog. Yes, I know it's unlikely, but look at it!

This Keeps Running Through my Mind, BUT??
Don't know how off base most of you will think about this--and whether this could even happen ops: lol. But it sure looks like a fox mix to me (or a coyote even!) And ya, I know they are 'related', but even so!!?? There is just something 'primal' about this dog and the way it stands and carries itself. Also the coat makes me think fox too.

A question!
Where do you live--have any foxes or coyotes in your 'neck of the woods'?
And yes I also know coyotes will kill dogs but who knows--could be like a freak of nature type thing---more likely if the female was the dog I imagine.
I take it that there was no evidence of it being someone's pet---like a collar or something? Really has me wondering--Let us know if you find any clues at all as to this mystery dog and where it might of come from??!!

I was thinking Pom mix at first, but the fox & coyote comments kinda jiggled my brain. She does look rather foxy, as do Shiba Inu. And her coat resembles Shiba coat more than Pom coat. So that got me thinking maybe Shiba mix of some sort.

hey I think you are right. The face looked Pom to me, but not the coat, at all. The coat does look like Shiba coat. Good call.
