Default Husky shedding

We have a Husky and we live in South Carolina where it gets quite hot in the summer. Our dog sheds in clumps or tufts. She seems to have a healthy coat but is this type of shedding normal for a husky and what tools might work well for brushing her to help keep her cool

I have been a groomer for 13 years... Yes, it is normal for a husky to shed and if not brushed enough they will shed in clumps. For tools I would recommend an Undercoat rake and a greyhound comb. DO NOT buy a Furminator... it is very easy to hurt and burn your dog using one and they are also just NOT worth the $50. Daily brushing and combing will help with the shedding. You can also bring your dog to a professional groomer and have her groomed... but make sure they DO NOT use cage dryers as this will only make shedding worse!

What do you feed your dog? Shedding is greatly controlled by diet as well. I have 5 large, long hair dogs and they hardly shed, but I feed them a quality diet.
