| | Guest | Lhasa Apso+Poodle=A Lhasa Poo that looks like a Chihuahua?
my cousin is offering me one. i don't really care about the breed because i believe all dogs are lovable. but when i compared what a lhasa poo (over the internet) and the actual puppy look like. she doesn't look like a lhasa poo but a chihuahua. is this for real?
what are the consequences of having a mixed breed? i would like a toy dog that is not hyper and loving, that's all really.
any input will be appreciated | |

Most mix breeds make better pets then the prue ones do. To me it should not matter they are all dogs and i love them all no matter waht.
If you stop and think about we are all mix breeds. We can over here and took this land away from the Native americans. And if you look back we all have different blood lines in us. For me i have Native American, Irish, and English in me and i know alll of you have different ones in you also. My dad was 1/2 Native American and 1/2 Irish my mom was 1/4 Native American and the rest English. I know alot of people just don't stop and think about where there great great greatgrand mother and grand father came from but i do so i never think of anyone being a pure breed because we all are mixed from different country's if you know where your mother and dad's grandperants was from.

I've had mixed breeds all of my life because I've always adopted strays. They were all wonderful dogs. I currently have a border collie X who has been the best companion and best friend anyone could ask for. A year and a half ago, I finally got my first pure bred dog - a shorty JRT. She is also a wonderful companion. Frankly, I don't see a difference. A dog should be judged on its personality, not by the length of its pedigree. Both of my girls have their own special and equal place in my heart.

I can't agree that mixed breeds make better pets. I've had both mixed and purebred dogs, and all of them have been excellent pets. It's not so much the breed as it is how the dog was raised/trained.
But with my purebred dogs, I knew what I was getting.
Dachshunds dig, chase small furry creatures, and will play until they collapse. They have a joyful approach to life and a great sense of humor.
Beagles bay, are confirmed escape artists, and chase small furry creatures.
Bull Terriers are unique, and have a few peculiar behavior traits one rarely sees in other breeds. They not only chase small furry creatures, they chase large ones (like horses and cows). They have a tendency to be dog aggressive. They also have a great sense of humor, and are clowns.
German Shepherd dogs are powerful dogs with a strong instinct to herd and protect. They're serious minded. They need a job to do.
My mixed breeds? I didn't know what I was getting until they told me. Some were serious minded, some were humorous. Most of them were barkers. I've had some that were shy, some that were bold. But I didn't know what to expect in the beginning because I didn't have those breed specific clues as to how they might be expected to behave. I just had to wait until they revealed what their behavior was going to be.

You may think that she is looking a bit Chihuahua like right now, but I most DEFINITELY see mini poodle there, without a doubt. She's going to change a lot over the next few months so you might start to see more of the poodle coming out. Don't let the straight hair fool you...she has straight Lhasa hair and a poodle face...and it looks like a poodle build as well (From what I can see).
p.s. if you want to post pictures:
1 - see the little globe up top in the editing features? 3 down from that to the right is a little square with a mountain...click on that. It will ask you for a link.
2 - what you'll need to do is go to a webpage, like your flicker account, right click and go to "copy image location" ...then right click in the "mountain picture box" and press paste. You'll get your link for your picture that way.
Hope that made sense.

I seriously doubt she's a Lhasa Poo. Nothing about her suggests Lhasa, from the shape of her head to her coat. If there's Poodle, the other half of her is something with a short coat.
Both Poodles and Lhasas are little fluff balls by the time their old enough to leave their mother. For her to have such a short coat, one of her parents probably also has a short coat.

I can't completely agree here. Just because her coat is short and straight doesn't mean she isn't a Lhasa/Poo
Here are some examples...
One of my dogs is a Chihuahua/Shih-tzu/Mini Poodle...and she looks like this:
And THIS is her sister...SAME parents - She's the scruffy one on the right...excuse the little girl who thinks she can dress herself and cut her own hair...LOL
So as you can see, there are quite a few different traits that can come about from the same parents. None of the puppies from my dogs littermates (Bella, the black and tan above) or from Toto's littermates (the girl above) had a poodle body or curly poodle hair. Toto was the only one from two litters who had the scruffy hair, the others had short hair and were more Chi built.
