What is her breed?
Hi.
I just recently received a 7 week old female pup and I'm not sure about her breed. I assume that she is mixed. The people that gave us this pup said that she was a Shih Tzu, and that they do not know what the other is. Can you help me find out what her breed is? (Sorry about the size of the image. I have no clue how to make it smaller)

Important info for you
HI! Welcome to the forum!
I can't tell you what your puppy is--hard to guess when they are so young yet! But I hope you will put this in your browser: pup/leaves mother too soon/problems. I have learned a lot since joining this forum and one of the things is that a pup should not be taken from the mother till at least 8 wks. of age and 12 wks and longer would be even better. Please look this up!(words I mention above to put in your browser) There are a lot of web addresses to click on--- and will help you raise a happier more adjusted dog!
Hope you like this forum---you can learn a lot here! I know I have! I have 2 dogs--lot older than your little puppy. Corky is a cocker/golden retriever mix-turned 11 on June 13 and Max is a pure cocker spaniel who turned 10 on April Fool's Day (Apr. 1st) You can see their pics. if you go to my profile page and click on albums. See you around. Hope you have good times with your puppy!

Its hard to see your puppy in those pictures, so I couldn't guess what she is, but I do know she's a cutie!

Hey here is a picture of Cookie at 9 weeks old. I am positively certain that one half of her breed is a shih tzu. I've been to the pet store to look and found a litter of puppy, and they look exactly like her but white + brown. The difference with Cookie compared to a common known shih tzu pup is: Shorter Hair, Longer Snout, Completely brown and more active and playful. So can you help me guess what her other half may be? Thank-you.

Im sorry but I wasn't sure if it was possible to edit your own posts BUT! I think I have just found the other half breed. A yorkie. Can you please confirm that my puppy is Yorkie/Shih Tzu?

Just checked out the pic in my dog book for the Yorkie---and it definately looks like your puppy--LOL, I think it is more Yorkie than Shih Tzu!! Are you sure there is Shih Tzu at all??

Thank you! And yes I am pretty sure there is Shih Tzu in her.. well I'm not 100% but I am sure.. if that makes sense. Why? I think this can be found by looking at the tail. Cookie's tail is curved back towards her back and is longer than Yorkies tails. Also, she has traces of black hair on her tail and ears only. (also under chin) and her hair is Short.
Thank you so much for helping me XD

ooookaay... now I'm having doubts of her being a Shih Tzu. I think you're right. I searched Maltese/Yorkie. Bingo.. One puppy pic EXACTLY like her.. :O So.. she is maltese/Yorkie?

I can't see Yorkie one little bit, I would definitely agree with your first query of Shih Tzu.

No one can be sure what your puppy is but I worked at a pet store a while back and we used to get mixes in all the time . Yours looks like a combination of one of these: Shi Tzu, Maltese, Yorkie, Bichon, Poodle. All of the mixes we got were a combination of these. Personally I would say a Shi Tzu Maltese or a Shi Bichon. Just my experience with mixed breeds.

I would agree that it doesn't look like the grown version of a Yorki and never would have said that BUT the pic. of the pup is completely different and very much looks like this puppy!! In fact it was very much noticeable to me when I saw the 2 pics in this book side by side as to hard to believe the difference--like ' a caterpillar to a butterfly' difference if I can use that as my reaction.

Thanks. I think mine might be.. Shih Tzu, Maltese, Yorkie and something else maybe. My dad told me that her parents are both mixes of.. quite a lot of breeds, and the father is smaller than mother. -sigh- oh well. Thanks so much for your help DoggieVogue, Corky/Max and everyone else.
