What breed do you think this pup is?
Hi, I found this darling pic of a pup... does anyone have a guess what breed this might be? Thanks!

Looks to me like a very young papillon. I know when these dogs are grown up that they have 'butterfly' ears but the pic of a small pup in my breeds book has small ears. See what anyone else might have to say here!

I'm kind of leaning toward a shi tzu puppy...

The mask is of a Papillon but the head and overall appearance appears to be Shi Tzu. This could be a mix. Pap puppies ears stand even when very young and rarely go down. The ears from what I see on this pup appear to be too small. The other problem is that rarely can you really tell what breed or mix breeds a pup is, it is easier when they get older.
The first pic is of the last litter at 6 weeks. The other is from a previous litter at not quite 4 weeks. Note the ears.

Shih-tzu
Paps ears are larger and closer set. Though standing is not a main key to the breed anymore, as they do show 'drop eared' Paps now.

I would like to see more pics. too--esp. a side view of the ears as they are hard to see from this pic. It almost appears that the pup is holding them back 'plastered' against it's head.

Thanks!
Thanks for your help with this! Unfortunately I do not have any other photos, I had found this one by accident while flipping through pics of cute animals on a website and fell in love.
I'm already the mom of an amazing, bossy, clownish 3 yr. corgi with a mind of his own and a penchant for emotional blackmail. I kinda doubt he'd allow me to get him a little brother. Any other corgi parents out there?
I'd be glad to submit a photo of my emo-dog, got plenty of those (usually in some sulking pose).
Stephanie

Yes, these are referred to as the Phalene, (french for Moth). Granted in North America both are listed as Papillon but in Europe, they are shown as separate breeds.

Emotional?
Does your JRT pull stunts like this? "I hope they notice how upset I am."
We say, "Oh, he's in the bedroom doing the wizard of oz thing."

My Lara has pulled every "stunt" in the book and is in the process of updating that book with new and nuttier antics!
