a quick bit of info. They are half the breed stock of the Miniature Pinscher.
Short single coat so prone to cold, wet and excess heat.
Bred actually as a sight ferreting hound. They can display 2 general types of demeanor. They can be somewhat shy and unassuming or can be very outgoing in which case can be prone to go after smaller dogs and cats.
Originally known as the Miniature Greyhound, they are lively and animated in most cases. Very playful but fragile.
All in all, very intelligent and make great companion dogs also.
I have 2.

Bella my blue and white female who is the outgoing type and Charlie my red and white male who is the shy type.

Talking From my Breeds Book---

DESCRIPTION: Lithe and streamlined, these dogs are capable of short bursts of speed. The glossy, satiny coat comes in various shades of fawn, cream, white, red, blue, black and fawn, and white splashed with any of these colors.

TEMPERMENT: As it tends to be timid and must be handled very gently, this is a pet for a quiet household where there are no lively children. In stressful situations it needs constant reassurance by stroking.

GROOMING: This dog is one of the very easiest to groom. All that is needed to keep the fine, silky coat gleaming is a rubdown with a piece of rough toweling or chamois. If absolutely necessary, the animal can be bathed, but make sure it is thoroughly dry and warm afterward.

EXERCISE AND FEEDING: Italian Greyhounds are active little dogs and love to run free and play as well as have regular walks. There are no special feeding requirements.

HEALTH PROBLEMS: Prone to broken legs and slipped kneecaps, especially when they are young. They are also susceptible to hereditary eye problems and seizures, and because of their fine coats they should not be exposed to extreme weather conditions.

PET FACTS: 1.--Obedient, loving, sensitive
------------2.--Minimal grooming
------------3.--Regular, moderate exercise
------------4.--Adapts well to urban living if kept in a quiet household
------------5.--Not a good watchdog

Male: 12-15" (from shoulder height)---6-10# (same for female)

Also defined as a clean, odorless dog.
