Greetings. I'm new to the board (and to doggy ownership). We are in the process of adopting a dog. He definitely has a bit of chow chow in him as he has the blue spotted tougue.

He's very mild-mannered, knows many commands. He can get excited but it takes quite a bit of stimulation. We took him to the park and he first whined and wagged his tail at other dogs, then when he didn't get a response, he started growling. He seems fine with people.

He has bunch-ie skin on the lower portion of his jaw. He also tends to spend lots and lots of time sniffing everything (more than other dogs we've known).

His ears have little extra flaps near his head.

He has a large head and a smaller body. He weighs around 50 pounds or so.

The rescue group thinks he might be part lab or shephard.

I've attached photos.

Any thoughts about what breeds he may be?

I see the Lab and also see the face--ears mostly of a German Shepherd and hard to see the Chow Chow---just the tongue 'for proof' and the weight is about right for the Chow Chow which says -Male at 50-65 lb. and female at 45 to 60 lb. in my breeds book.:mrgreen:
