| What breed/cross is this chap?
I found this fella wandering the beach about 4 wks ago, been looking after him. Since no one claiming or has reported him missing looks like a new addition to the family (me+gsd/b'collie x). They get on so well would be a pity to separate them now. Was wondering what breed he is. I've named him Chappy 'cause he's such a happy chappy . That picture was taken about 1 hour ago after a 6 mile cycle & 2 hours on the beach, he's getting fitter by the day, soon he'll be joining me+Relty on our daily 15/20 mile cycles. Tóg go Bog é, Take it Easy. |

My Mood: | The main breed I'm thinking is an Australian Shepherd and the weight would be 40-70 lbs--full grown (Such a big range!) and 19-23 inches from shoulder down. Second guess: Border Collie at 30-45 lbs.(full grown of course and 19-22 inches. Third and this is prob. not it as the weight would only be 14-18 lbs! and 13-15 inches---a Shetland Sheepdog. They all have pretty much the same coloring and they are all considered a herding dog. Let's see what some other members come up with!
Pretty dog and let's see what Relty looks like! |

I'm not good at guessing breeds but, he is certainly a handsome boy! Bless you for offering him a loving home.

My Mood: | A little info just in case! Just saw this in my book on the different breeds: Be Aware--Australian Shepherds are sensitve to some heartworm preventatives! Just in case he has this breed in his make-up! It is bad enough that this medication (as are many others) is not healthy for dogs but this breed has more sensitivity to it! |

Nice one, I was thinking Australian C.D./collie x, myself . He has a "thick head & quite large paws, I'd call him "chunky" for his size. Well whatever he is he's a dog and he really is incredibly friendly and very happy natured. The only bugger with him is he snores like a bull elephant and both dogs sleep in my bedroom (we are a pack after all). I left a pic of Relty in the welcome thread but here she is (I could happily post pictures of her webwide all day). That tongue is always hanging out. PS those eyes would melt the hardest heart.

Yes, I saw the pic of Relty in your other post after I had already entered my last message to you--and yes he does have meaningful eyes and is a great looking dog!
And I also didn't see where you had mentioned Chappy's weight before I had guessed his breed but sounds like his weight is right on for an Australian Shepherd dog. Did you mean to say Australian SHEPHERD instead of C. (CATTLE) or did you mean the Cattle word? In my breeds book, it says (for the cattle dog) for the description: This tough medium-sized dog was bred for hard work. There are 2 coat colors: speckled blue, with tan or black markings, or speckled red, with dark red markings. Weight: 32-35 lbs. and 17-20 inches tall. I hope you meant to say Australian and not Cattle as here is the temperament it gives in my book on the Cattle dog: It is absolutely loyal and obedient to its master, but it is something of a one-person dog. It may also feel compelled to establish dominance over other dogs. This cattle dog also has coarse short hair. Does Chappy? Anyway I can't see much resemblance to a A. Cattle dog from my book pic. Let me know what you meant.
Just looked at Chappy's pic again and I'm thinking you meant to say Australian as your dog has no look of the Cattle dog as far as color or coat coarseness or short length and definitely no speckles as the cattle dog would have!
