Help Identify Breed of Funny-Looking Dog
We adopted him from a shelter that claimed he was a beagle/daschund mix, but I see no resemblance. He has the biggest ears ever.
Any ideas? People have said he looks like a chihuahua, but I think his face-shape and ear shape are different.

Wow are those ears 'something else or what!?' Looks like chihuahua and minature pinscher to me! But, lol, after taking a second look I can also see hints of beagle(body) and the length looks a little daschund.
Note: Got into all your pics after I posted---Don't ask me how it changed so I could get in but it happened!

I have no idea what he could be (although his markings look a little like a JR) but he is so gorgeous. I love those ears!

As a breeder of Miniature Pinschers and have followed American Rat Terriers for years I clearly see both. The ears are very common on Miniature Pinscher as if natural standing they are either "Doe" ears or carry the larger oval ear. Markings are Rat Terrier and as both have the same general shape head not to mention the "tan smile" which is indicative of the Miniature Pinscher, I am going with these two breeds.
Here is a pic of Peter....exactly the same "Bat" ears.

RE Nano's Breed
I know this is an old thread, and you may have gotten an answer elsewhere, but Nano is a Rat Terrier, as far as I can tell. I own a Rattie whose ears aren't quite as big, but definitely his defining feature. Nano looks like a Rattie, though, it's possible, from the slight frame, that there was a cross with a smooth Fox Terrier or Italian Greyhound.
Greyhounds and Chihuahuas were both used in bringing up the Rat Terrier breed, so you could have a genetic anomaly, with Nano having that sleek frame and big ears. But I would bet he's a Rattie/Fox cross. The coloring is common to both.
And what a SWEETIE! My Topo is one of the cutest, funniest-looking little dogs ever, but your Nano is twice as cute!
