Default Border Crosser II

I introduced myself as the owner of Dax on another post. He was, along with 5 others, thrown over the international border fence from Mexico. Fortunately, they were all ok and have found homes with various agents from the station. I would like help in finding out the breed of the pup. Let me know if you need better pictures. Thanks for your help.

Boy, this is a tough one! He is a little young to be able to tell--plus When I think of Mexico, the only breed that comes to my mind is chihuahua--Don't know if they have other breeds that we would be aware of that are just from Mexico. Also can't see his face (front with eyes open). How much does he weigh? Chihuahuas are the smallest breed there is--weighing only 2-6 lbs. and shoulder height being 6-9 inches. (Of course whatever mix he is--if a mix--will have influence on the size and weight too--full grown statistics of course.

I am really concerned about how young he really is--Being as he was 'dumped' ---Prob. too young to really be away from the mother! Hope you are doing some research on how to take care of such a young pup. And make sure and socialize him also--Would be good to have him interact with the other 5 siblings too! Is there a possibility that you could take him to your work station and have the other co-workers that have the other siblings bring their pups (They would all need socializing too). If so--Heck you could put them in a 'playpen' together.

Hope Yogi will see this and be able to give you a lot of good advice on how to take care of such a young pup. He is a breeder of many years.

What is your guess as to how old he might be? You have only had him a few days but does he seem okay---May need special food at that young age. Hope all the members in here that know more about this 'stuff' can give you more advice--I have had no personal experience with such a young pup (If he is as young as I think he is!)

May do some searching in this forum--If I find anything that I think it might be good for you to know--Will paste a link here or in a new post. Good luck!
Hope you 6 new puppy owners are comparing notes!

at this age it is very difficult to determine breed or breeds of a dog. It may take til it is closer to 6 months to a year to get a real understanding but can tell it is a mix. The brindle coloring lends itself to several breeds so this is going to come down to the dogs adult coat and size and shape of body and head not to mention ears once it is older than 6 months.
At this stage and being so young I would recommend goats milk blended with puppy chow and served warm like oatmeal. Goats milk is the closest thing to the dams natural milk and puppy chow blended will help its young teeth and offer solid food transition which is crucial to its puppy teeth.
Good luck.
