Default Any Ideas of what our dog's breed might be?

We got Lily in August of last year! Shes an amazing dog, and extremely smart.. However, we have no idea what her mix breed is. The woman we got her from said she was a mix of bichon and king charles. The king charles is obvious and many people can point it out..but we can't see the bichon. She's also very small compared to her "mom and dad" who were on site. Any ideas?

Default CKC x Spaniel?

Cavalier King Charles with Springer Spaniel, or any other Spaniel, by the look of her.

Talking Welcome to the forum!

I definitely can see the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel--So much so that maybe it is 'hiding' the Bichon Frise part! How tall (shoulder down) is she and what does she weigh? Doubt there is another Spaniel type breed as they would all be bigger than the 2 breeds you mentioned--lol, unless it is a 'throwback' as the CAVALIER King Charles was developed from a cross between a King Charles and a Cocker Spaniel. By the way I have a 'pure' Cocker Spaniel and a Cocker/Golden Retriever mix--Can see them in my album on my home/profile page. I have to tell you this if you aren't aware of it (I wanted my next dog to be a Cavalier so did a little research): This is a breed that is highly prone to heart disease. I would 'bone up' on this problem and try to do all you can to try and 'block' it from happening.

I don't see the Bichon Frise but it may be why your dog is smaller--size being the one thing pointing to this part of the mix. My sister has a Bichon so I am aware of their 'looks'. This is from my breeds book:
Bichon Frise--female--9 to 11 inches (from shoulder down) and 7 to 12 lbs.
Cavalier King-- " --12 to 13 inches and 10 to 18 lbs.

It is a beautiful dog that you have! I am esp. loving her looks as it a breed (Cavalier) I am interested in!

She's certainly a stunning looking pup. The spaniel is very apparent but I wonder if there could be terrier in there too?

Okay, so i measured her at around 6.5 inches from paw to shoulder..and she weighs around probbaly 10 pounds now. I just found pictures of her "mom and dad", or so the lady said. The dad does NOT look like a bichon frise.

This is becoming a mystery ! lol

Included a few other pics of her as a puppy just for fun too

Bichons are the solid coat-coloured dogs, Shih Tzu's are the ones with the markings (or easily seen Markings). The dad is most definitely not a Bichon. He looks a bit like a Rough (Wire?) coated Jack Russell mix, but only a bit.

I don't know my small breed dogs as well as my big dogs.

However, the father is a King Charles cross (with Bichon or Shih Tzu etc). Then when bred to the dam (obvious K.C) resulted in your little pup who looks almost like a full KC. The other breed in her is so minimal you can hardly see it.

It would have to be from the dad's pic to determine what other breed is in there.

Maybe he was just a poorly bred (in regards to matching with the breed standard) KC. Sometimes people think they have a different breed when there dog just isnt the typical standard you would see of that breed.

Cool Think I Got It!!

I think the father is at least part Japanese Chin!! Here is a link to check out pics. of this breed: Chin Information and Pictures, Japanese Spaniel, Japanese Chin
Be sure and scroll all the way down (More pics--and more pages of pics to click on at bottom of page.) Hey let me know what you think!! Female would be 7-11 inches and weigh up to 9 lbs.

NOTE also that it is considered a spaniel also!
