Welcome To The Forum!
Yep I'd have to agree with pit/mastiff. 15 inches at 3 months is pretty tall so that with the marking/coloring points to mastiff. I also see the pit in the face.
Any1 else think there could possibly be a pinch of ridgeback in there because of the size, coloring, and facial features???
Very good looking pup!

At this point and at this age, until the pup is around 7 to 9 months and the actual physical development has had a chance to start there is no real way of telling. At this point it is primarily guess work. If you look at all things considered, a GSD/Pit could look like this and be this large also at this age. There are far too many variables that comprise a puppy's pedigree that simply are not visible at this age unless it is a purebred. The best you can do is watch his growth pattern, see how his head and overall body develops and keep posting pics along the way. At least by the time he is 7 to 9 months, it will afford us a better opportunity to provide a more precise opinion. Unless the person you got the dog saw the sire and dam, we all would only be guessing.
