The biggest misconception that I continue to see from rescues is Rhodesian Ridgeback. Anytime a rescue has a medium short golden or light tan dog with a black muzzle they immediately assume it must have Rhodesian in it. Unfortunately a Lab crossed with a GSD can produce the same appearance. The term Ridgeback is the breeds most prolific characteristic and in each case I have seen, this characteristic is not there. If it carries Rhodesian in it, the odds are it will carry the trait. This one does not. The head is shaped differently and as the Rhodesian body and Lab as well as GSD bodies are similar in shape and size, again it would be difficult to tell exactly what the mix is.
