Welcome to the forum!
I am guessing there is some Belgian Shepherd Dog there. There are 4 distinct varieties differentiated by appearance--distinguished by its coat. These dogs are similar to the German Shepherd Dog. The German Shepherd doesn't have as long a hair as your dog BUT there could be a mix in your dog that would have the longer hair. The variety of the Belgian Shepherd that your dog looks the most like is the Tervuren. I would also say the variety called Groenendael, which is the most popular type, but this type has a black coat sometimes with small white markings.----Of course if your dog is a mix--It could have the coloring of the other mix it is. Am going to give you a link to check pictures on (and descriptions): http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/belgiantervueren.htm
Make sure to scroll all the way to bottom as you read--The page is a little misleading as there is more after the 'middle ads'---Also click on the link (page 1) at bottom of this site--many more pictures there and at least one pic. is similar to your dog. When you are finished--you can go back to top of page and click on all breeds and then find German Shepherd dog if you like!

I do not know--could be! Actually a mixed breed could have several breeds combined not just 2. How old is your dog--Has it reached adulthood yet and done growing---Looks like an adult but if not--maybe it will get taller and the tail may not touch the ground then? I would prefer the Tervuren over the German Shepherd as far as health problems. This is from my 'breeds book':
Belgian Shepherd Dog (Tervuren): These are hardy, healthy animals with few genetic diseases, although some get hip dysplasia and eye problems.
German Shepherd Dog: This breed suffers from many health problems, including skin ailments, hip and elbow dysplasia, bloat, genetic eye diseases, epilepsy and heart defects.
You could go back to the link I gave you in my 1st post and read up on the info for grooming, exercise and feeding and temperament, etc. so you best know what your dog requires.
By the way--What is your dog's name and how old is he? Do you know how much it weighs? In my book it gives the average weight of the Belgian Shepherd Dog --Male= 65 to 75 pounds.
German Shepherd Dog--Male= 75 to 95 pounds.
Both of the breeds average exact same height (from front shoulder down to ground) Male= 24 to 26 inches.

i have a shoe and clothes chewer on my hands too!! I seriously lost several pair of work pants, jeans and about 6 pairs of shoes. I was not a happy person, so now i put everything away and the hamper is in my closet. This may not be the best thing to do afterall i didnt teach her not to chew on them but this is what i had to do bc i couldnt afford to try and teach her to not chew clothes and shoes. I couldnt keep replacing the things she ruined. Im sure someone on here will now of a really good technique. Anyways, your dog is gorgeous!!

Some things to try to teach your dog not to chew on things. Always keep articles that they have chewed on as bait. If you leave them around while you are in the home and as they go for them teach them No or use a sound like AH AH meaning no without saying the word. They seem to respond to the AH AH better than saying no all the time. Also I have tried several of the no chew liquids that most pet stores sell and sometimes it works and sometimes not. I found if using something already damaged that sprinkling chile powder or something hot on it will almost always stop them from wanting it again. Also not only clothing, old rugs, blankets but if they get ahold of a phone or remote and chew it so bad that it is not longer useful they make good bait for a lessen there also. Some things you may find if they have smooth surfaces you may need to mix the chile powder with water so that you can spray it onto them and then just leave them on a coffee table or low surface and wait for the results.
