Do you know what this breed is?
Hi all,
This is not my dog but I pass him everyday but my wife and I have decided that when we get a dog we want this breed.
Any help identifying the breed will be greatly appreciated.
He's so cute and friendly. Of course, not every dog of this breed will be the same, but at least we have a starting point.
TIA

Rough haired Jack Russell. He is gorgeous. Quite a young puppy though. Jack Russells are my passion. They are great dogs but, although small, very clever and can be hard work. If you want an active, fun dog but don't have a lot of space a JR will be great.

Thank you.
Thank you for the fast reply.
For some reason we thought he wasn't a puppy but really he is too excitable to be anything but.
Time for some more research about the breed. Thanks for you help.

There is a wealth of info out there. The breed comes in different coats - smooth, broken and rough. Colour wise - they should be at least 51% white, with black and/or tan markings. Don't be taken in by the supposed "rare" colours - they are a sign that there is cross breeding with some other dog in the mix!

Jack Russel! Although Saint Bernards make great lapdogs too.

Yes definitely Jack Russell. May I add from my experience with raising a few Jacks, that, along with their fun loving good traits, they will go to any extreme to get to, and obtain the objects of their desires. Be it a rat or rabbit in a hole, or your favorite cap that you wear. They will not stop trying to get a targeted object until it is theirs. They are master thieves, and will swipe tools that you are working with if you lay them down for just one second. But you can usually find the missing tools in their dog house or other places where they stash away all the "goods" they collect. Finding their stash of stolen goods usually will turn up the missing hammer, screwdriver, or wrench, along with other things that you might not have noticed were missing, like your favorite cap.....

I've had two Jacks that lived to a great age and I currently have a Jack cross and a full Jack. None of them has ever been the least bit interested in tools or "hard" items but socks, balls of wool, anything soft and furry is collected.
The two we had when we first married would skid to a stop if they were whistled back to me, no matter what they were chasing or where we were. The Jack I have now is a true hunter and can't be trusted in rabbit territory. If he spots a bunny he is on high alert until we get home. The next time we pass that way he remembers and is on watch.
