What do you think my dog is?
Hi Everyone! Would just like your opinion what breed you think my dog is. We actually bought her as a Labrador crossed with a Golden Retriever only for the vet to tell us that she was Labrador crossed with Kelpie. I had a dog trainer out a few days ago and he thought Labrador crossed with German Shepherd! Anyone like to have a go??

Welcome to the forum!
Just guessing of course but I am inclined to agree with the trainer--Lab/German Shepherd.

Yes, your right Nobodyhome! They look very similar! Now you've really got me wondering if the vet was wrong. Can I ask how much your dog weighed on average? She just turned two on the 11th and is about 29 to 30kgs. I am so tempted to get one of those online DNA testing kits just to cure my curiosity. Does anyone know if they are reliable and has anyone used one?? Thanks!!

my dog was 45kg when he was 18 months old but he was a male so they weight more. and the lab and gsd mix it's what my vet told me about my dog he also could be wrong but it didnt realy matter to me he was a great dog thats all that matters.

Labby head, nice and boxy Her ears aren't set quite in the right place for a lab or a GSD, but about halfway between the two proper settings. GSD colouring, and feet and legs. and a coat halfway inbetween the 2. can you get a nice pic of her standing broadside? that would help alot. My guess is Lab x GSD.... but then i've never met a Kelpie Whatever she is, she is absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Thanks!! And what a lovely bunch you've got!
I tried to get some better pics but it must be too bright outside for her today as she is squinting in both! As you can see her hair gets quite long towards her backside.

She is a beautiful girl! she has alot of lab in her for sure, no question about that! But her colouring would suggest GSD, but by the broadside pic, I dont see much that screams GSD to me... but maybe the parent that was supposed to be retreiver was a GSD/Retreiver mix? Black and tan is a dominant colour, so could have come from anywhere, but it will not come from a black dog mixed with a brown dog, one parent must have been Black and Tan.
Thank you for the comment about my pups... I also think they're gorgeous! LOL but then we all think that of our dogs I have another one on the way... another deaf/vi Dachshund.
I have a very bad habit of playing gyess the breed with the 2 dogs i own that i dont know what they are... I drive people nuts. I enjoy playing guess the breed with other people's dogs... I drive less people nuts! LOL
