We brought this little one home from the Humane Society today. He was listed as a Shetland Sheepdog but was brought from Puerto Rico where many strays are picked up and no one really knows the origins. Any ideas out there what we may have here? His tail is long and curves a bit toward his back sometimes. Is currently about 8 weeks, and 6 lbs. or so. Thanks!

This is an overly common question with only one answer. It is simply too young to know what it is when there is no proof of purebred status. What it looks like now is of no consequence as by the time it is 7 to 9 months and starts to actually show head shape, build and size it is anyones guess. Best to wait til it is older than ask the questions with updated photos.

Yes, it is far too soon to tell but what a sweet puppy he is! Hope you will have many happy years together and you will share lots of photos so we can watch him grow up.
