Default New puppy, not sure what he is!

Hello all. This is my first post in this forum. I rescued a puppy from a shelter a while back and I was looking for opinions on what people think it might be. I did one of those DNA test things but the results were way out there and not even close. If it helps, he is only ten months old and about 70 pounds already? Any feedback to what breed he could be or could be mixed with would be great!
Thanks

Smile Welcome to the forum!

Wow! This 'blend' has really got me curious. It definitely is not Beagle as far as size/weight and some of the facial features but I still think it is part Beagle--the coloring, something about the face including the ears look Beagle to me, also the tail.

I am also wondering what that test you had done 'told you?' Maybe there is some truth in it as this make-up to me, anyhow, is a mystery--But, lol, I still think some beagle is there! Can you tell us what the test came up with?

Hey, thanks for rescuing him! What did you name him? What kind of personality does he have? Personality could be a little helpful too on trying to figure out what breeds.

He looks like an English Fox Hound to me.

You are so right Cigwyllt! I just looked up that breed on the net. I don't have a pic or any info on this breed in my Breeds book so wasn't even aware of this breed--But looking at this link-It has to be a full blooded English Fox Hound or pretty high percentage wise!

Here is the link:
English Foxhound Information and Pictures Be sure to scroll all the way on this page--few more pics!

According to Wikkipedia there is an American Fox hound as well but it looks identical to the English version!

Just went to that link to read more on it and it mentioned American Fox Hound--so checked that one out and here is the link to that breed---Could maybe be either one! Have a look at this breed also: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/american....htm:confused:

Lol, didn't see this post until I had already posted about the American one. It did say they are pretty much the same look! I'd have to go back and check to see if any difference in 'the way they act'--Prob. not! I just hope you (lovemydog) are a jogger and love to run--This breed is going to need a lot of exercise!!

Wow thanks for all of the input. Foxhound has been our guess but after we sent the test away, we got kind of confused. The DNA test actually came back that his parents were a rottweiler mix and a lab mix. I found that kind of odd looking at him. I also just wanted to see if anyone saw something we didn't or maybe had a dog like this and knew what it was. So would you say it is safe to tell people he is if not full blooded then at least mostly foxhound? People ask us all the time what he is and we are always like "well we think..." I don't like giving that answer! I always described him as being as tall as a horse, the eyes of a basset hound and the color of a beagle! Hahaha

We rescued him and he was 23 lbs and they told us that he may not get much bigger! He is 70 lbs now! He is a giant lap dog.

I wouldn't think twice! Obviously he isn't registered and has no papers but I would look at him and assume he was a fox hound.

I think foxhound is pretty safe to say. The breed that came to my mind as soon as I saw him was Harrier. They are very similar but it says the males are usually about 60 lbs whereas the foxhound is 65-70 so it's more likely a foxhound.
