My first impression is a St Bernard mix, could possible be Walker Hound - bull dog mix, this second suggestion is made noting the very short hair coat. But beautiful dog all the same!

Welcome to the forum!
I am wondering if there is some Boxer there. And as Ghst said--some Saint Bernard maybe?
Here is a link to pics of Boxer:Boxer Information and Pictures, Boxers Be sure to scroll all the way down the page--At bottom of page are 12 more pages of pics of Boxers to click on. I only checkd out a couple pages. The 2nd and 12th pages have better pics than the 1st page for sure. Lol, Boxers weren't born with cropped ears!
Here is link for Saint Bernards--Note that there are 3 pages of pics to look at: Saint Bernard Information and Pictures, Alpine Mastiff, Saint Bernards
Want to look at the Walker Hound--: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/treeingwalkercoonhound.htm

I looked at the photos before I read the replies and my thoughts were - Boxer / St Bernard cross!

Here is a close match! Saint Benard and Catahoula Cross, even that name sounds reverend!

my first question would be how much does he weigh? / how big is he exactly? It seems in the pictures that he's quite a large guy. My thought was that he's got some kind of mastiff in him, like Presa Canario maybe due, to the look of the jowls, and also the short fur. The colors look like st. bernard maybe but I think the fur would be somewhat longer...
Although that pic of the bernard/ catahoula does look very similar...

Being that the Mastiff and Rot are from the same family of dogs the Molosser and based on the head shape it very well could be Mastiff and St Bernard as the Bernard also is from the same family. This does not mean that there could be boxer in the mix somewhere. Coat issues are vague. Many assume that if a mix breed has a long hair or dense hair coat in the mix along with a short coat that the longer coat is prevalent but in fact this rarely occurs. More often than not the short coat is dominant.

My first thought was Boxer x Mastiff, then I read the other posts... could be St. Bernard as well, but I truly do think Boxer... I'm not sure what it is, but he doesn't seem to have a big enough head to be Mastiff/St. Bernard mix (though it's quite big enough! LOL) St. Bernards are alot more... um, for lack of a better word... droopy ... though if mixed with a lighter weight Mastiff, possible.

My first thought was a short hair saint bernard and boxer mix. He looks like he has a tad bit of bully mixed in there too.
Here's a pic of my short haired saint bernard.

Some saint bernards aren't all that laid back. I still swear Buster has ADHD.

I meant droopy, as in the skin on their faces is droopy

So gorgeous!!
My first impression what St. Bernard x Boxer. Regardless, he is stunning. Do you know how old he is? He still may have a fair bit of growing to do!
Wonderful that you rescued him. We are working on a rescue of our own right now ... all the best to you and your big fella
