Default What are these dogs mixed with?

These are our two dogs, the black one is female and her name is jade.. she weighs approximately 50 pounds.. she is very short in stature but quite stocky.. the light one is male and his name is brownie.. he is much larger at maybe 75 pounds or so.. he is not fat or overweight but his bones seem to weigh a lot and he is an absolute powerhouse. The female is about 6 years while the male is 13 years old. Jade has kind of an aggresive demeanor but is cowardly towards us.. if you bump her accidentally she will flinch and holler, she's always been like this but she will charge at other dogs and cats and children and other people barking fiercely.. she is an outdoor dog because of this, as we own cats. Brownies demeanor is much calmer.. he barks rarely and he never chrges or acts like he will bite.. it seems as if he can't feel much pain either.. I've seen him get excited and charge into a wall at full speed, cracking it and not act like he felt anything. Also he always carries his tail high and he loves cats and people and was easily house trained and is an indoor dog.. thanks for any help! We think she has shepherd but are't sure what else and we think he has yellow lab but aren't sure what else..

Smile Welcome to the forum!

Brownie looks Lab to me too with maybe some Golden Retriever---Would like to see a full standing side view of body and head!? He is within the right weight range for both these breeds. It looks like he has a short ruff around the neck?--which would not be a Lab trait--but Goldens do. What does tail look like--A Lab has a thick base, and is round and tapered--described as an 'otter' tail. Golden has a lot of hair on it's tail. But from the pic I would guess mainly Lab.

Jade looks mostly German Shepherd to me but the other breed(s) must be smaller as the average weight of a female G. Shepherd is 70-90 lbs. I am thinking the face does not show just German Shepherd either but I can't figure out what--long shot but do you think there could be some Lab there too? --Although this would not be the right weight either! And possibility of more than 2 breeds involved of course. Whatever the mix is, it must have a longer life span as the pure German Shepherd lives to be about 13 (average)

Leaving you with a link to dog breeds that has a lot of pics and descriptions--Click on all breeds for an alphabetical listing of the breeds and there are mixed breeds too. Just be sure to go all the way down the pages as ads get in the middle and is misleading and you think you are at end of page, but you're not!
All Purebred & Hybrid Dogs in ABC OrderProb. don't need to click on the above link as I looked up the specific breeds posted below!

Your male looks like a Lab x GSD (Shepherd), by the face and ear set, I would also like to see a standing broadside shot... gorgeous fase though!

Your female looks remarkably like a GSD x Am Staff, quite possibly some Chow in there as well (by the shape of the body) She is also stunning! aggression is not due only to breed, to that cant be used to determine breed.

Whatever they are, they're beautiful dogs

I agree that Jade has a lot of German Shepherd in her.

Brownie does look like a Lab mix.

They're great looking dogs.
