found puppy...What breed is she?
This cute little puppy found its way to our doorstep Tuesday night. We have put up lots of found posters, posted it on many websites, put up a sign at Petsmart and took her by the vet in there. No one has called for her, makes me sad. We were wondering if someone could tell us what type of puppy is she. She is very smart, all white except one little tiny brown spot on her nose. She is skinny legs. If owners are not found I would like to know what breed she is before thinking about keeping her.
Thanks

What a pretty little thing. Do you have a dog warden you can check with? I'm guessing the vet has already checked for a microchip to see if she is registered anywhere?
Unfortunately with a young pup like that it is impossible to know what she will grow up to be. She looks like she could have Golden Retriever in her make up or perhaps collie but the truth is that many different breeds look similar as pups and there is just no way of telling what might be in her make up.

Thank you, she did not have a chip or collar on. I don't think she have gone to far since she is so little. We even went door to door and no one has ever seen her.
Can you take a guess on her age? The nurse at the vet said she was a mutt and that was it. Thinking about taking her to a different vet office.

She is so cute, but then again, aren't all puppies. Good luck with her, whatever you decide.

I'm not sure what this pup is as the others are right, she is too young yet to tell, (looks to be about 3 months ish). Look at her teeth and if she still has her baby teeth or is just getting her adult teeth in you have a better idea about her age, (usually teething is between 3-6 months depending on size and breed)
Although it's hard to tell when pups are young what they will look like when they are older my suspicion is that this dog could be if not fully then at least partially Australian Shepherd. Weather she is aussie or not either way it looks to me like this dog could be (or could very shortly become) deaf.
Sometimes breeders of aussies, are unaware that combining certain color patterns (such as two merles together) can result in this mostly white or even all white coloring (which btw is different from albino). This can be a problem since in order to hear they need to have pigment in the hairs of the inner ear (you can't see these without an ear scope). Since she has no coloring around the ears or head, and indeed any of her body, there is a very real chance that she could turn out to be deaf. Also another tip off to this is the pink color around her eyes.
I found a great site if you type "the white aussies project" into google you'll get a site with a lot of interesting info.
Again she may not be an aussie but certainly looks like she could be to me, I don't really think that she looks like a golden since she is very much white and even the most "white" looking goldens are actually a very light cream color if compared to a true white.
I wish you the best of luck with her and please update us!

OMG! Looks like you have a very pretty Great Pyrenees puppy. Great Pyrenees tend to wander a lot. If you leave them for a second they are a Dis-a-pyr. We got our great pyrenees at the pound. He was found wandering around town. great pyrenees make great guard dogs for you and your family. you couldn't ask for a better companion than a pyr. If you don't find the owners then you have found a bestest friend for life.

Hmm yes could be great Pyr, but seems to me the shape is not right, this pup seems to have a longer face than the pyr and the pyr from all I have seen, is usually more round looking. Also this pup has a distinct lack of black pigment around the eyes and (correct me if I'm wrong!) the Great Pyr has got black around the eyes, lips and nose. It's hard to tell in the pix but it looks like this pup might not have any true black pigment. The nose looks like it could have a more charcoal or liver hue to it rather than the true black which could tell a bit more about the genetics...
I don't know what do you think?

She could be a double Merle, but most double merles have blue eyes, not all, but most. She does have a black nose, but there looks to be some pigment missing in spots. Most double Merles have a spot somewhere of merle colouring, but as it's a randome patterning, it's possible to get one with absolutely no colour. Her ears are totally wrong for an aussie, but she could be an aussie/border collie x... that would give her the ears... then again, she could very well be a white Long coat German Shepherd... or GSD x. She is gorgeous, btw.
I have seen ALOT of pics of Double Merle Aussies and Border Collies, as I belong to a Yahoo Group for Deaf Dog Owners... there are literally thousands of members, and alot have Double Merles... I own 2 Double's... they're Dachshunds, but the genetics work the same... infact if one were to breed a Dapple (Merle) Dachshund to a Merle Aussie... you would get doubles in the litter. It doesn't matter the breed, or the colour of merle (red or Blue) You will have the same problems.
In my opinion, though, she is not a double Merle. but I really cant take a proper stab at her breed, she is just too young.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to look up all the different breeds. We have now had her for 2 weeks and she has gotten a little bigger. I think I'm going to make a vet appt for her. We have a couple families thinking about adopting her. I have attached a newer picture of her. She seems to be able to hear and see just fine. She is a wild, but smart dog. She can scale the baby gate in 10 seconds. She loves to be with us all times.
