Who's Teddy's daddy?
Teddy is now 6 months old. His mother is a smooth coat tan chihuahua, but dad is unknown. Teddy's fur is now over 3" long, his ears are smallish, fluffy and feathery and stand up only halfway. He weighs about 10 pounds, is very active and loves to jump. His fur is red with some black hairs mixed in on the top. His muzzle is black and his head is very triangular. Anyone have any ideas about what breed dad might be??? Thanks for any input!

He's gorgeous - I've got a thing for dogs with fluffy ears LOL! If the father is a totally unknown quantity he could be a complete mixed breed and there would be no way of spotting anything definitive in his pups. To me though (and I really don't have any experience and am hopeless at this game lol!) his face looks like a dachshund.
I'm sure one of the experienced breeders here will correct me if I'm wrong but I wouldn't think there are that many dogs that could breed safely with a chihuahua but mini dachshund would be a possibility.

Thanks for your reply! I have been thinking dachshund too, especially because of his color, except his legs are are not short. Guess he could have taken the fur and face from dad and the rest from mom! In any case, I just LOVE him so much!

His fur looks alot like a long coat Dachshund. but my first thought was Pom... then again, daddy could have been 4 breeds in one! regardless, he's gorgeous.

This may be way out, but---
I wasn't going to make any guesses as what I figure would prob. not happen--being a little larger breed---But if it wasn't for the size----A lot of the 'looks/color too--remind me of a Golden Retriever. Maybe it could happen---I know Cocker Spaniels have been mixed with the Chihuahua and who knows --a Golden could be mixed with another smaller breed--(like a cocker--I have that mix (twice)-- and therefore make for a smaller dog that could be the father!
Very cute dog, lol, but then any dog that reminds me of a Golden Retriever is going to be 'good looking!' Love that breed esp. if mixed with a Cocker Spaniel!

Thank you so much for your input! (Can't find a "thanks" button!). Yes, I feel like Teddy is my "Toy Golden Retriever Chiweenie" with Pom ears! Haha. I am sure he is a unique mix of many breeds. It really doesn't matter what he is, it's just fun to hear what others think. He is my sweet dog and I love him as much as his purebred Chihuahua brother Sancho! I do appreciate all the comments!
