Default Any idea what mix my pupper is?

He is brindle with that plott hound kind of nose, but he is about 55 lbs of solid muscle- a very medium pitbull body. VERY fast runner and loves to fly through the air to catch his ball.

Do you live in the south (u.s.) by chance?

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

It's hard to tell from one photo alone. Does he by chance have a hound-ish bark? If so I'd lean towards Black Mouth Cur. Some of them are very muscular. I had a full bred one & it's body was between a lab & a pit bull; slightly long (lab) & all muscle (pit). If you look them up, you'll notice they come in a variety of sizes. Ridgback also comes to mind but from this pic I'm leaning more towards pit or bmc mix.

This photo reminds me so much of my old guy. I wish I had a photo of him out but I have them tucked away right now.

OMG- he definitely looks like a cur! He has a very shrill bark and can be very aggressive, although he has backed off a bit after a few BAD fights with our black lab/ pit bull mix.

He is a pointer and loves to chase the ball, but wont bring it to us completely like our pit will. Our pit was easy to train, but Bart wants to be in charge. We are having problems with him peeing throughout the house ( we have 4 total) but he cowers when he knows he is in trouble.

I will research the breed more and see what we can do to troubleshoot some of his issues.

I SO thank you for your response- all breeders and vets were calling him a pit mix. Um, he so fits the Cur personality!

Your welcome! BMC's don't have a perfected standard in looks since most are bred for more important traits but yours still holds a very strong resemblance. I've seen some pits who look like like bmc's a little but yours has even more from the one photo shot. They are not common & even less out of the southern US which is why I asked. If he does have the cur traits you probably want to work that guy well. They need a job to be best fulfilled.
