My mom is moving away to Pennsylvania, up in the woods near a lake.

My fiance and I want to get her a dog, she's been wanting another one for awhile (she has a 4 year old German Shepherd who gets along great with other dogs)

She loves big dogs, and loves hiking, water, and cold weather. She'd love a dog that sits on the bed with her at night when she reads... and doesn't mine fur.

We're thinking of getting her a young adult Newfoundland?? Does this sound like a good idea?

From what I've just read on this breed--sounds like a pretty good choice--likes to swim--likes cool weather and lots of space and it sounds like your mom wants a big dog and the exercise would be great for her too, Gentle giant--good watchdog to boot! Sounds like everything your mom would want. I don't know if it is a 'bed' dog but prob would! You realize that this dog will weigh--male--130-150 lbs and female--100-120 lbs.
