Which one is it?
The link below is a test to see if people can actually tell a true Pit Bull..There are 25 pics of dogs of a variety of breed and only one is a true Pit Bull. Most people will pick the wrong one..Please be honest and tell which one you picked before you picked the real one.I am posting this to show people that many people will claim to witness or be a victim of an attack by a Pitty when in fact they mis identified the breed.I actually picked right the first time, however I've trained the breed many, many times and even though I've never owned a Pit having a breed that some people deem dangerous (Akita) and knowing the truth that it's the owners who make them that way the plight of the Pitbulls is close to my heart.I've seen them time and time again accused of attacks when in truth it was human error in identifying the breed type..So again, please be honest as to the number of the picture you pick first.

Wow - we don't have pit bulls here in the UK so I looked for a bigger tougher version of our Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I won't say how many I looked at before I found the pittie but it was a lot. I looked at the ones I guess it might be and then went through the others one by one!

Thanks for the honesty Cig..As you can see there are a few breeds who look very similar and it's very easy to think a dog is a Pitbull when in fact it's not!

Mind you, some of the pics are not good examples of the breed - Jack Russells are my passion and I didn't recognise the pair in the photo. They are very poor examples. Also the Viszla looked like it had short legs. But it was an interesting exercise. Now I'm going to check if there was an honest to goodness Staffie that I've missed!

#16 looks just like Mouse and George, my sister's pittbulls. Aren't they cute?

I agree with you about the JRT's and the Viszla's but those 2 breeds shouldn't be hard for most people to distinguish from the Pitts.

Most of those breeds are easy to tell. The Greater Swiss was easy, and the Dogue du Bordeaux (however you spell it) The Presa there is gorgeous. There was only 3 dogs that had me stumped. What is #3 and #24?

Ha Ha, boy was I wrong. Now I know its not the pitbull that looks scary, its some of these other breeds I didnt even know. I think its the short pointed ears that got me. I work for a living designing flower gardens. and about a year ago, I was working in the city planting flowers outside a coffee shop and a guy came and asked if i would watch his dog while he went in and bought a coffee. He came out a short time after getting his drink and I asked him what breed his dog was. It was pit bull, a rescue, on death row. I have to tell you she was a beautiful sweet dog. very friendly, she changed my mind that day.
I think the Thai Ridgeback is a really cool looking dog, Ive never seen one, I did see a large breed hairless that looked like it. I even got to pet the hairless, that was cool.

We don't have most of those breeds here in the UK. I have heard of so many different breeds since joining this forum! There are so many bull breeds.

It took me 3 try's but the pittie shown must be a pup it looks tiny.
There's a Black Mouth Cur on there...I had one & have often seen some that I'd swear could very likely be a BMC posted for adoption but are being labeled Pit-mix. Granted bmc's don't have exact standards but even shelters guess..imagine w/people who don't work with dogs.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

When they're bred the way their supposed to be their actually not very big dogs height wise..Of course they're very muscular but they're not very tall.

I have alot of different breeds of dogs in my dog classes that I attend. Pits that have been very friendly, and other breeds like GSD that have had issues. One breed that had been comming was a Boerdoel from Africa. This was a huge dog. In fact I was very uneasy around this dog. She had a look in her eyes that was spooky like. and she did have aggresion issues towards other dogs. I did keep my distance from her. I have a 9lb min pin. Ive even seen Goldens Retrievers with issues.

I won't give the answer away as i have used this on friends as well. None have picked the right dog on the first try. Most people think "pitbull" if the dog has short hair and is muscular. When i first started going to my areas dog park I was amazed at how many pit/crosses were at the park and the owners that passed them of as "a lab mix or bulldog cross with something". What amazed me was that no one but me was aware that they were mixed Pits. LOL...those dogs were all well behaved and played well with others.

I got it right, first try, but then Pitbulls have become a passion of mine, and being in rescue, I'm developing a knack for picking out breed traits. No I dont own one, and never have, however I will, when I have the appropriate home and time. I adore the breed.
