Talking Best guesses on my dogs breeds? :)

Hello everybody! I have two rescues, and now that both are older (and look so different!) Im curious as to what others think their breeds are. I have a few opinions, but I could be right and I could be wrong.

First up, we have Dizzy. Shelter said she was a shepherd mix. I can see GSD in her coloring. She has an underbite and some pretty serious food allergies (Boxer anyone?). Her coat is very thick, rough, and oily except her head. Her tail is otterlike, which makes me tentatively guess maybe some lab in there too. She weighs in at a year old about 70lbs. So my guess for her is GSD/Boxer/Lab... opinions are loved though!

Next, is Odie. The shelter was calling him a pit mix, and then said lab mix. I can sit and look at him, and see the 'americanized' pitbull, not the bully type, but the slimmer version. His coloring Ive concluded is 'ghost merle'. You can see some merle patches very lightly on him, but theyre hard to capture on camera. He has some white ticking as well. Plus the pink nose and blue eyes. Id say pit mix, but the tail totally throws me off! It has a curl to it. He weighs in at about 60lbs Id say, perhaps a shade less at a year old and has always been slim.

The first two pictures are Dizzy, and the other 3 are Odie.

I'm no help at all I'm afraid!

I agree that Dizzie has the look of a GSD but no idea what else. She reminds me of my old girl - everyone has a different opinion of what she might be - staffie, collie, gsd, beagle- and I can see them all in her but who knows what else could be there. But all in all it makes for a wonderful family dog! I love the photo of Dizzie and the kitten. Beautiful.

As for Odie - I have no idea at all but I love his face! That pink/black nose makes him look so puppyish. He's gorgeous too.

Smile Welcome to the Forum!

I have a link: Staffordshire Pics, 2 for you to check out--notice the curled tail in the 1st picture here! I think your Odie is mostly American Staffordshire Terrier. I thought that right off but the tail had me stumped until I saw that pic in that link!

For me Dizzy is harder to figure out---I see some GSD but what else is a ? Although I doubt if there is any Boxer there. Does he like to 'box' with his feet. Boxers have that characteristic---My grown daughter has a Boxer mix and I use to have a purebred many years ago. Your Dizzy doesn't remind me of a Boxer. As far as Lab--iffy? I have the feeling that Dizzy is a big mixture of a lot of breeds. Lol, is that why he is called Dizzy!?

I also love the pic of Dizzy and the cat. I would enlarge that pic to an 8x10 or larger and frame it!! Hope I don't offend anyone but I would cut off the human's arm from the photo if you did enlarge pic and frame it--more with keeping focused on the subject kind of thing. And want to say Odie is a good looking dog--I like esp. the last pic of him--reminds me of a lion, lol, esp. with the tail curled!

Hehe, I thought the Diz had some Boxer in her due to her nice, deep barrel chest, she does go on her hind legs to fight with Odie quite a bit, and shes got a good underbite. Ill have to pull her lips back and get a picture. I was going to say American Bulldog, but her size makes me hesitate. I would think she would be a bit bigger?

Hey , I am not an expert at this but I try and I have learned a lot by being in this forum for quite a while but like I said --Not an expert so I may be wrong about saying no Boxer! Not able to see the actual dog 'in person' which does make a big difference! Like for instance--not seeing him move--box! Not able to see texture and other things with the coat--You get my 'drift.'

And forgot to thank you for rescuing your 2 dogs--Thank You. Nice to know they may of had their lives saved by you adopting them---Lucky dogs!!
