Default My new Shih tzu

Wow he is such a cutiepie!
He is a mixture of tan and light brown all over, and his face is all black. He looks exactly like an ewok! He is still in house training. Is it normal for a new tzu to pee so freaking much?

He is quite the little hydrant. I do wonder if that is normal. We are talking every ten to twenty minutes. That seems like so much as every other dog I have ever lived with would go every hour or so.

I love shih tzus!
Im really excited!

what kind of food do you feed him, this breeder recommended pedigree healthy start..the dry stuff..but the last breeder fed my other one science diet the canned stuff so we fed him that his whole life!

I havent really researched this pedigree stuff so I was just wondering!

when I get him friday I will take pics and put them up soon!

Shih Tzus are quite famous here in our place. My bestfriend has one. I don't own one though. I own a Lhasa Apso which looks like Shih Tzu but is very different.

I'm really interested in the breed though. I might get one after two years. I still can't decided which of the small breeds I should get. I like the small Shih Tzus. Is called the Princess type?

His peeing is calming down. I think he was just nervous in a new place.
He eats puppy chow for small dogs, but I believe in giving them a little real food too. Cooked chicken, or a very soft roast that's falling off the bone. On days I eat steak however, he isn't getting any.

Shih Tzu is an alert and spunky little dog. This breed does well polite and thet makes friend easily. It is usually quiet inside the house. This breed is very sensitive to the heat but it is good in apartment life because they are fairly active indoors. This dog required daily grooming bacause of their long hair. What is in shih tzu dog you like most?

Isn't Pedigree filler food?I thought it was found out to not be good.

And puppies cannot control their bladder that young,so peeing alot is common.Just get him on a schedule and show him where he should do his buisness.

Anyway I am not the biggest fan of shih tzu's.Most of the ones I have seen or met have been yappy little things, not quiet by any means. However when I worked in the grooming salon,I had to brush out a show shih tzu and her coat was super long!Anyway she was a very quiet and polite dog and very sweet. However they are not the breed for me.My cousin's mom has a shih tzu/poodle mix and she is really sweet as well.

yea I found out pedigree is crap food also..so now we feed him eukanuba for puppies..(or small breeds) he loves it!

from what Ive experienced with shih tzu's they only bark if you let them..the only time we ever hear noise out of chester is when we're on our way out the door and thats a little whining and yipping..I think if you correct them when they do it (when they are young) they dont make a sound
we had one for 10 years that only barked when something was wrong and made a noise to let us know he had to go out

I have a white one with black spots. He is kinda albino, no pigment around his eyes but he is adorable! He was born in march and we are STILL having a hard time house training him, and we are using the crate. Maybe my dog is diff, cause he barks allllll the time and is constantly running back and forth through the house. SO much energy! He reminds me of the shaggy dog on sesame street with all his hair.
