It's not the same as getting a mutt. At least you know what breed the dog is mixed with. And to put it down just shows that you have never owned a Schnoodle.
I have one and he is very bright and healthy. Best of both breeds. He's a clown and a thief and is 7 months old. I wouldn't trade him for the world.

No such thing as a "schnoodle". The are however schnauzer/poodle mixes. Giving it a cute name in order to get the masses to think it's an actual breed and buy their overpriced mutt is just plain wrong.

Then you are very fortunate. When you by a mixed breed dog you really do not know what you are getting - you could get a dog with all the health/behaviour problems of both breeds. There is no advantage in cross breeding - it takes many generations to produce consistent, true characteristics. I'm sure your pup is adorable but any dog that is well brought up can be a great pet whether it is a pure bred champion or a mutt.

If you’re planning to breed your dog or cat so your kids can “witness the miracle of birth,” make sure you take them to the local pound so they can witness a healthy, adoptable animal being killed with a lethal injection of sodium pentobarbital or worse, gassed to death, too, so they’ll understand exactly how 50% of those ‘miracles’ end up in the US

I had a Boston that I swear was retarded. Didn't get house broken until another dog lived with us six weeks and showed her how to do it. (she was nearly 2 by then) Turned out she was just lazy. She is still with us and the princes of the house. Biscuit the Schnoodle is all clown and very smart and willing. He just finished puppy school. She (the trainer) would show us how to do something and he would do it on the first try. He apparently got the best of both breeds. Thank goodness. He's bigger than the Boston now but she is the boss. Love to watch them play.

I got a schnauzer/poodle 13 years ago as a pup. Intelligence-wise she was average, but incredibly sweet. I've had min schnauzers for almost 30 years and she certainly had a lot of schnauzer traits, such as "talking" and barking and digging. She was all black with curly hair and a great joy. She passed away a year ago.
She and my mini schnauzer mated and had a litter of six pups. We have their son. What I've noticed is that both of my Schnoodles have very noticeable schnauzer traits, moreso than anything else.

Mine is more schnauzer than poodle. Kind of looks like a schnauzer with a perm. The think I'm working on right now is getting him to not be timid when he meets someone new. Once they pet him he's fine. But at first meting someone he'll hide behind me peaking out from between my legs.

It amazes me when someone gets so up tight about mixed breed dogs. Where do you think the pure breed dogs come from to begin with? Bostons started out by mixing certain breeds to get what we have now. Giving a dog a cute breed name just helps to describe what our dog is.

I love mutts and mixes, I dislike idiots that put a dumb name on them and sell them for more than their purebred parents go for... and "breeders" of these designer mixes dont do any health testing spouting "Hybrid Vigour" which is a complete myth as they are still the same species... THAT'S what bothers me about "designer" dogs...
Not that I wouldn't like a Schnauzer x Poodle, I adore both breeds, but call it like it is, and stop with the dumb names
