I am fortunate to have a Lhasa Apso. My Lhasa Apso, Emperor, is a bundle of joy. He is very sweet and affectionate. He is a very cute fur ball. Emperor is very loyal to me. In fact, he acts like my bodyguard. His bark is so powerful that it frightens most of our neighbors. They couldn’t believe that a small dog can produce such a loud sound. I guess, most people think that Lhasa Apsos are toy dogs. They may look like Shih Tzus but Lhasa Apsos are actually guard dogs. They were used as a guard dogs in monasteries in Tibet. If you’re looking for a cute guard dog, you will definitely love this breed.

I had a Lhasa Apso as a child. It was a boy named Gizmo. He was a very smart dog. When he turned a year old he would hump on peoples legs and so we neutered him. Do not neuter a male Lhasa Apso. He turned violent and unfortunately we had to put him down because he would bite kids.

Oh, I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm also glad you said that. I was planning on having my doggie neutered after a year. Now, I don't think I will.

His humping habit started when he was 3 months old. He would hump my legs, my back and my everything! Sometimes when I am asleep he would hump me. It's really creepy waking up and seeing a dog humping and thumping. Haha! I'm glad he is over that stage. Now, he doesn't hump that much. But he still humps more than a normal dog.
