Default Weird sleeping positions

My great dane always sleeps on his back with his legs spread and sometimes tongue hanging out.. lol its super cute.

My lab sleeps curled in a tight ball ... or just all sprawled out.

How do your dogs sleep?

Sunny does that flat-on-the-back with lips flopped open thing. It's hilarious.

This thread reminds me of when dogs seem to make noises because they're dreaming.

Do your dogs do that, too?

Yes! Ha! Brutus is good for barking really loud in his sleep and waking everyone up ..he snores really loud too. He does this grunting and groaning thing too. When he starts the whimpering noise in his sleep his legs start going. Wonder what he's dreaming about? :-D

Our labs like sleeping on their backs with their legs in the air, or sometimes they sleep side by side in the same position. It looks really cute! Our doberman has this weird habit of sleeping in the sunlight for long periods of time. We usually have hot and humid weather, unless it rains. And I have never seen her get heatsroked or sick. It's just weird since all our dogs shy away from the sun, but she seems to soak it in, like she's sunbathing.

Bandit likes to sleep on his back with his front legs curled on top of him, and his hind legs stretched out. He kinda looks like he's imitating a vampire in his coffin, ya know what I mean? I have no idea how he can be comfortable like that... but apparently he is because he can stay that way for over 2 hours. If it's raining though (he doesn't like coming inside), he curls up in a little ball with his tail over his eyes and nose. Just like he would if he was up north, sleeping in the snow.

Courage usually sleeps curled up in the typical puppy position. Sometimes, when Bandit's all curled up, Courage will squirm his way between Bandit and the wall. It's cute.

phoebe mostly sleeps curled up, but she sleeps in several other positions, too, including cuddling up with us and the dreaming of chasing squirrels one.

My dog sleeps in any of the following positions :-

Legs spread on her back

Hanging out of her bed

Sprawled out on the chair

With her head on the chair arm

but best of all, lying beside me, with her head on my stomach.....lol

One of my dogs just lays flat, but the other will sleep on his back, side, sprawled out, curled up, and it is so cute to see him try and get comfortable. Both of my dogs bark in their sleep, and they'll sometime whimper, like they're having a nightmare.

Question Signs of Back Problems?

Has anyone heard anything about sleep on the back being a sign of back problems?? Just curious. It's the only way my 7 mo. old Bernese Mountain Dog will sleep & it made me wonder?

Thanks!

When it's hot my golden retriever lies on her belly with her hips spread out to either side to get maximum contact with the tile, it looks pretty goofy.
