If character and behavior are concerned, I prefer the female dog. Females are not complicated at home. And most of all females do not have the habit of marking their territory raising their leg in almost any corner, tree, or even pants of your friend. My female dog is more manageable and patient than males. How about you? What dog do you prefer to be with? Male or Female?

I prefer male dogs. My male dog now (and male dogs in the past) seem to be more laid back and lovey . I also like the fact that they get larger than the females. Other than that, I don't really have any specific reasoning.

I also prefer female dogs. There seems to be less of a dominance issue. The females are smaller, and in my experience, easier to train. My Great Dane is a female and while she's rather large, a male Great Dane would weigh at least 20 pounds more. I'm not a very large person, so my dog greatly outweighs me.

I haven't had good luck with male dogs--they've been diggy and destructive and a general pain. Our female dogs have been better all round--less aggressive, more affectionate and nicer personalities.

I always thought I preferred males but then I got a female. The one and only reason I might now have a slight preference for females is due to anatomical differences. Otherwise, I have found both males and females to be equally easy or difficult to train and live with.
My female dog lifts her leg and marks everything outside just as my male dog does...but even more so because she marks with her urine AND her feces.

The one male dog I've owned was kind of a wimp so it was pretty much like having another female dog. I guess you could say I prefer female dogs.

I prefer female dogs over males. Even though I do not like it when our females our in heat, it is tolerable compared to our males fighting over each other for dominance. And they're messier than females, based on my experience with dogs.

I've had both male and female dogs. I prefer male dogs, but that's probably because I'm a woman. I've noticed (among my friends & relatives) that the gender of dog you prefer depends on your gender. Many, but not all, of my female friends prefer male dogs. I suppose they feel more protected with a male dog, which is not rational at all. I prefer male dogs because whenever I've had a female, the female dog attempts to dominate me. The males, once I show them I'm the alpha member of this pack, are submissive and have never tried to assert their dominance. My brother prefers female dogs, but he can't give me a solid reason. So I'm not sure why many of the guys I know prefer females. Even my husband prefers female dogs.

I definately prefer females. I like my male, but he marks way too much stuff for my liking. I just think females are easier to handle & train. But that's just my experience.

I have always own male dogs. a once time before I have a female a great pyrenees.
and now I own a female and a male. so my answer are:
males are best. they are much more easy to handle.
and they are kindless.
female are more hot-tempered.
