Default Behavior after being in heat?

Hello sorry to get off the subject but I am curious if it is normal for a female dog to be some what aggressive towards other females when they're just coming out of heat. Reason asking is I took my female Aussie to the dog park today and another Aussie (Ruby) who she normally plays with all the time was there, Kylie (my Aussie) wasn't wanting to play with her and would growl and bark when she tried to play. She has never done anything like this before and I'm wondering if it's because she's just coming out of her heat period. If that is not the reason, any suggestions of why she acted this way?

Sorry to respond to your post with a question but I think my 5 mo. old female aussie is trying to go into heat. She's swelled and has leakage. My male hasn't started showing alot of interest but I'll need to know when to make sure to keep them apart. Can you help with that?

I did have a female sheltie that stayed irritable to any and all animals when she came out of heat. Would last up to two weeks at times.

Yeah females can be irritable for a couple of weeks, and it is usually with other females. It is the hormone thing!
