| Dog Fights Okay, so I am being bold and asking people: What do you do when your dog(s) get into fights? When My dog, Sydney gets into a scuffel like she did over the summer with my neighbors Rotty (40lbs VS 110lbs!) I grab her as soon as I could and pinned her to the ground and made the Rotty stand over her. She got the point after he almost bit her head off for trying to steal his food! |

| I heard that you should throw a blanket or water over them rather than physicaly getting into the fight and risk getting bitten |

| The Rottweiler is just food aggressive with dogs. I have literally stuck my hands in his food bowl while he is eating and he just eats around my hand . My dog respects him now and is scared to mess with him! He is 11 yrs old and has severe arthiris so he can't chase anyone one. I think the owners are considering putting him down if he gets worse. |

| That does not work!!! The water, and the blanket or things like that did not work for me. I had a beautiful mutt that would come to my house daily and spend the day with me, her owners could not feed her. Well the neighbors pit bull down the street who had already bitten my cousin, came running into MY YARD and latched on to my poor dog. I tried to launch a kick but i was too slow.
Just out of no where she came running and latched on to Freckles throat, we did the water nothing, we had to get a shovel, and by that time the owner was joggin with her baby in the stroller down the street and saw, came up and grabbed the shovel and was hitting freckles!!! My boyfriend had to grab the pits neck and choke her that didnt work, and well with him choking her and me punching her in the nose she finally let go. But went at freckles again. I didnt miss with my kick in the face this time tho.
Jesus, my mom went balistic on the owner woman, she told her I told you once, and if you dont do something to get rid of that dog then I will, the woman said you'd be doing me a favor... and jogged off. We had to treat freckles after that, and she got better. My dad had a talk with the man of the pit and well, i'm not sure what my dad did but i never saw the dog again. The man knew my dad meant buisness. So yea... the water does not work, and neither do the blankets when you have a determined dog that was not raised right by its stupid owner. |

| Personally that did not offend me at all. I had never thought of that idea, i just sprayed the pit and then threw the hose because it did not work. Anything for my beloved dog, what we did saved her.
Which makes me compelled to tell my other story, but if anyone is easily angered of a dog being killed for any reason plz do not read.
My male dobe/choclab mix was the neighborhood male, everyone loved him until those ppl that owned the pit bull moved in. He was all high flying man or whatever, and said that he'd get a dog that would kick my Hooch's butt... and my family was like??? What??? Why in the world do you want a dog to fight, but oh well some ppl are different than others. Hooch was always fenced in my 3 acre backyard, and well one day he was let out early in the morning and my dad awoke to snarling and growling.
There was a Red Doberman same size as Hooch outside fighting with him. My dad called me downstairs and the sight was horrible, blood everywhere. Me not thinking ran out in to the yard while my dad had the famous shovel trying to get the dog out of our yard and away from hooch. Next thing i know the dog runs at me and knocks me down, and latches on to my leg and that was a big mistake. My dad was about to get the gun, but Hooch attacked him with such a horrible force and held on until the dog suffocated. My dad and I tried to get Hooch off of him, but he was so fixed on him and upset that he had attacked me. I went into shock after I had realized what had happened and had to go to the hospital. Needless to say the owners never tried that again, but seriously how can ppl be so ignorant.
That dog was clearly trained to attack, and just who let Hooch out, when there was a looped latch on the handle to the door? Those ppl were horrible, but since we didnt have evidence it was them the sheriff couldnt do anything. |

But...i've heard worse stories. i met a girl at the dog show last spring, one of the handlers for the show dogs, she used to train a friends pitbull.
this pit bull was friendly, outgoing, and friends with the dog next door to him.... though she happened to be chained up. One day this chained dog got her leg tangled and she was howling and yelping, the owner was inside ignoring her, aparently she barked a lot so he didnt see a reason to check on her. Well... the pit, who was in the next yard with his owner, decided to check on his friend, they both ran over to her and he was bitten. she was stressed and hurting and scared, so who could blame her, right? Well, he snapped back of course but it wasnt a fight.... but all the chained dogs owner saw, when he finally did look out the window (i guess after he heard another dog barking) was the pitbull attacking his dog..... the pits owner was right there with her dog, afraid to help since her own dog was attacked, she relaxed when she saw the owner come outside thinking he would untangle his dog and help her.... then she got scared because she saw he was carrying a gun. He didnt even ask questions. he just blew her dog away, while it was at heel right beside her............ |
Oh my dear God... thats all I have to say. If that happened to me... I dont know what I'd do. |

| I would be tramatized! My 8 yr old neice got bitten by a GSD in her neighbors yard. She was just playing in the back when the dog grabbed her arm and bite! Thankfully, she didn't need stiches. The dog was killed of course. But my neice is fine and still likes dogs. She is just weary of GSD. I always tell her to stay away from strays or dogs on the loose. And to always ask the owners to pet their dog. |

| I have to agree with Raggs, the problem has to be nipped in the bud or one dog has to go. The Rottie should not be food aggressive. My 2 sheoherds are trained to let anyone take the food dish away. My female doesn't like the female pom going over to her dish, and will send out body signals but would neve attack. The pom has also learned to respect the signs. I think the Rottie needs more training in that area, can you imagine the damage to a child if ever one came near the bowl? |

| The Rotty will not be living for long. He is 11yrs old and the owners feel bad for making him suffer. I feel bad. The owners just told me that! |
