Default Dog seems depressed

Hello, I am new to this list and to the dog world. I just adopted a 3 year old beagle 3 months ago. She is very sweet and low-key however, lately her whining has gotten worse and worse, to the point where I don't know if I can keep her in the house. I work from home so she is in the house all day, we have a doggy door which she uses wonderfully. Over the last week however, she has starting whining almost constantly, laying on her bed all day and generally acting depressed. She is eating normally, and her bowles are bahaving normally and she has not vomited so I don't think she is sick. I am really concerned and out of my depth here since I have never owned a dog before. We try to give her plenty of attention and I walk her every day.

Please advise, the sound of her whining is about to send me to the looney bin and I really don't want to lock her outside.

Thanks!

It might be best to have a Vet check. It could be that she is feeling some sort of pain, although you may not notice any limping or what not. After ruling that out, you could try giving her something to do, such as playing hide and seek, or finding hidden items, or treats. Have her use her mind, and if she is busy, she may not whine as much.
The adage, a tired dog, is a happy dog, may just be what you need so you don't go loony! Good Luck!

Unfortunately we don't know anything about the first three years of her life so her former habits and routines are a mystery to us. The whining has become almost constant over the last day so it doesn't occur after any particular event. I did neglect her walk for 3 days in a row so maybe that's the cause. I took her on an extra long walk today and she does seem a little better but she is still whining. I have skipped days before and she has never behaved like this. We have to put her bed in the kitchen when she whines since we can't handle the high pitch so that may be making her more lonely or sad but I don't know what else to do since I don't want to encourage her whining by giving her something she wants when she does it. It feels like a catch-22.
