Ok So when my dog needs to go out doors to ...well go.. we have to put him on his leash, our yard is not really big, and he just sits there when we would put him on a line outdoors, and if we take him out not on a leash he runs down the hill to the neighbors yard, and the road.. and everywhere he shouldnt go. he does listen to us, just not when he wants to go down the hill.

Taking him on a leash isnt that bad, but its like he needs to sniff every squar inch of the yard to find the exact spot to go on, sometime he wont even go #2 unless we take him for his walk, but thats hard to take him when its early morning and he needs to go.

I was just wondering if there is anything i can do to try and teach him to just go when he goes out, i know its dogs nature to sniff everything, but he takes like 15 min before he goes..

We also dont have a fenced in yard ( we are renting) so i cant just let him out...

any advice will help im sure
thanks!

Start using a command saying over and over until the deed is done, something like (ours) Hurry up! or Get busy! When the deed is done, lots of praise, and right back in. You will have to do this for awhile but the dog will catch on, when it is time for us to go out, I say lets Hurry up. When we want to go for a walk that is what I say then, Lets walk.

Dont take your dog on a walk before he poops, then as soon as he poops in your yard, praise lots and lots and take off on a nice walk. He'll pick up on the new rule quickly and be pooping quick so he can take a walk.
