HELP! My 13 yr. old peke constantly rolls on her back and makes these grunting noises while doing so.... The vet says she is in perfect health, yet, a friend says she does it because it's like "popping her back". She's driving us crazy with this behavior.... Anyone have a clue what she is doing and why?
Her back could be itchy, and it could be the shampoo was not cleaned off properly. If there is a little shampoo left, it can cause itchy skin, and that could be why she wants her back rubbed, and if no else does it she will do it herself. I am suprised that she is not chewing on her feet, and scratching.

And here is another one, "My dogs aren't spoiled, we are just well trained!"
I wonder if she does it to get attention? Some dogs will do the oddest thing to make us laugh/smile or even to yell at them to stop. Try ignoring her back rubbing for a week, and only give her attention when shes sitting quietly. Dont look at her, dont make noises to her, pretend shes isnt even there when shes rubbing her back.
