I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice an increase in the humping thing only at a certain time of month. lol It's really embarrassing to admit to something like that.
I can definetely understand a female dog being protective of her human mommy.

Scotty, I have had many rats as well! My males always humped each other, and sometimes the females did too. But the males, especially.. Sure brings up a lot of questions and interesting comments from guests if it happens while you have company over. LOL

I too have seen this behavior on my mom’s dog. I really don’t know if it’s just a seasonal behavior or what? He was able to stop doing the humping for a month and I don’t why.

It is a symbol of dominence in any species. Dogs do it, rabbits do it, parakeets do it. It is a symbol of dominence and it means that your dog is trying to peacefully force the other to submit to it. It's actually pretty normal behavior, and it is sometime just the way that they play.

hi folks,

i have 2 male, 17 week old Golden Retrievers. Just today, i caught one of them humping on the other. When another male dog humps another, does anal penetration occur? If it does, how do we control this behaviour?

i have read previous posts in this thread. but everyone says its normal? how normal could it be!
