suddenly won't sleep in his crate My toy poodle, Mattie, is 5 years old, and for most of his life, has slept in his crate (his choice). A couple of weeks ago, we had a power outage that lasted for three days, and since we also had no heat, Mattie slept in bed with me. Since then, I haven't been able to get him to go back to sleeping in his crate. He'll go in just fine, I'll shut the door and get in bed, and then he'll start whining quietly. Often, when I say 'no!' or when I shush him to discourage the behavior, he'll either ignore me, quiet down for a minute and then start up again, or stop whining completely, but then he won't settle down, and I can't get to sleep because he's moving around so much. The only way to quiet him down is to take him out of his crate and let him sleep in bed with me, but I'd really rather not get into that habit, for various reasons. Does anyone have any advice? I'd try almost anything right now... |
