Default Sleepwalking Dogs?

Has anyone had any troubles with there dogs sleep walking at night? Or even getting up to mischief in the night.

My dog likes to jump off my bed go out the door walk down stairs then comes straight back up & gets back in my bed lol.

I dont know if shes just checking that all is safe in the house but its always around the same sort of time 3am.

This is the first time I have heard about it. It’s kind of funny but it does probably happen. I don’t see any problem with it as long as it doesn’t hurt him or cause him any accident. Just be sure that your dog could not go outside the house.

There is a chemical in the brain that supposedly stops us from acting out our dreams.
In some people and dogs, it works less effectively.
I think most of us have seen some dogs running, barking or growling, in their sleep, albeit these things are very much reduced.

I think your dog is actually awake and just checking on things, although it's no bad thing.

That's funny, never heard of that except in the movies. maybe he's just having too much of vitamins or have you given him a different vitamin instead? Just kidding. Maybe it's really wired in his system, what breed is he?

Agree with labradorian, just make sure your dog is safe when he does his nightly acrobatics.

Hehe. That's kind of cute. It's the first time I heard of sleepwalking dogs. My dog growls and barks when he is sleeping. Sometimes it doesn't really sound like bark...it's more of a popping sound. Barking while sleeping means that your dog is sleeping soundly.

I've never heard about sleepwalking dogs.. I know mine barks in his sleep (not just a little bark either.. lol) and gets my lab all crazy. Her head pops up and she's running around the house making sure no one is in the house.

Yeah my pup has very active dreams and he runs, barks and growls but has never got up and walked but I am really bad for sleepwalking and talking, my pup normally follows me when I am sleepwalking haha but he has never slept walked. My boyfriend thinks we are both quite vocal when sleeping and he reckons we are almost in time I huff then the pup huffs I tease him and say one day I'll start growling and sleep running on my side like Chip. But would interesting to know if it is possible because sleepwalking is from a deep sleep but your motor skills are still working many avid gamers act out games which can be dangerous considering the rather violent games out now. I commonly will go get myself a drink but leave it in the kitchen haha.

Haven't seen Phoebe do that, but she very often has the chasing-squirrels dream.

I've never seen my dog actually "sleepwalking". He'll kick his feet, bark, or whimper sometimes, but I've never seen him up and about.
