Default Unneutered Males

My boyfriend has a doberman that is not neutered and is 1 1/2 yrs old. The dog is very sweet but extremely hyper and doesn't listen well. My dog is neutered and is a mutt. He is mellow after an hour of play and listens well.

When my dog is tired his dog continues to nip, paw and bother him. His dog chewed an entire couch and whines non-stop. And my dog really doesn't care much for him as his in his face all the time. If I believed it was a puppy issue I would let it go. But I think it is because he's not neutered. I can't help but notice any male dogs intact at the park are not welcomed by other dogs.

My boyfriend has breed dogs responsibly. Please don't make me verify all that because it's not the purpose of my post. I am mentioning it because he hopes to breed his dobe and has no plans to neuter. Fine on an acre with a bitch and a stud he plans for. But here it is just dysfuntion.

I like a lot about this man. I am in my mid 30's and people like him are hard to find. (Though I am not a fan of any dog breeder). But then again I never get to spend the night or take any vacations because of the dog's out of control behavior.

Advice...should I let the dog mature or am I caught in a hopeless deal of 2 male dogs who will never get along or mature and mellow together?

Again, my post is not about whether you think he is a responsible breeder. It is about whether a neutered male can get along with a male that is not neutered.

there is a possibility that yes they can but note that a 1 1/2 year old Dobe is still a puppy not an adult dog and therefore is naturally very energetic. Hyper is a medical condition not to be confused with energetic. Dobermans are by nature generally energetic and require a good daily workout to wear off excess energy.
