Hi
We have a 3 year old male labrador, he has been a great, loving, sweet, obedient indoor dog, he is never allowed on our furniture and beds and he has been on "Nothing in life is free" trainning for over a year. He eats until we give a release command and he understands most of the commands that we have tought him. He usually slept in my bedroom, on his little bed but sometimes he slept outside in his house, he never complained about this, or at least not a while ago.
Recently, about 1 month ago my family and I purchased a puppie, we located her crate in my room, at the beggining whe allowed both dogs to sleep inside but our lab started urine marking inside the house when none was around oe when I was sleeping at night so we no longer let him be inside unless someone is there, he has slept outside ever since (in his house with his cozy bed inside of it, that is).
Anyway we installed a doggie door for the puppy in the backyard door, so that the puppy can go out and the lab doesnt come in uninvited.
The problem:
Last night I was at the tv room with some friends for quite a while and when I went into my room I saw our lab sleeping on my bed!!! I dont even know how he fit through the small doggie door... anyway, he just stared at me without moving when he saw me come in, he knows my "angry" look so he seemed "ashamed".
I've never allowed this, and I told him to get off the bed, he didnt do it, so I grabbed him (without saying a word) by his collar and he growled at me!!! I stopped grabing him because of the shock as he is a very sweet dog and he had never growled at anyone before, then I grabed him again (he growled again) until he was on the floor.
Once on the floor he didnt growled but he wouldn't go outside, I had to push him to the backyard.
I dont know what to do, because until he learns not to urine mark inside he is not going to be allowed free time inside like he used to before the puppy came. And now this happends... Notice that he has never harmed the puppy, actually they both play outside for hours and we have not seen any signs of agression towards the puppy, not even when they take each others toys
We have tryed to give him as much attention as possible as we used to before having the puppy, if not more, but I guess he still feels left out or something
What do you recommend to do???
