New Puppy Not Getting Along With Adult Dog Hello,
I have a 4 yr old corgi mix, Bella. She is the sweetest thing and is so spoiled. Recently we adopted a beagle corgi mix, Zoey, to be Bella's playmate. Zoey is 13 weeks old and PUPPY! We cannot leave the 2 of them alone or Zoey will attack/annoy Bella. We currently have Zoey gated off in our den because she is teething, almost 100% housebroken and because they fight. When Zoey is out of the den, Bella will bark and snarl and Zoey does not get the message. Zoey just contiues to jump on and bite her. When Zoey isn't going after Bella, Bella chases her around. Other times Bella just sits there whining while Zoey bites her ears and looks to my family and i to step in(which we do) . We feel so bad for Bella. She will not put Zoey in her place like i have read. The vet says that Zoey is too puppy for Bella and that as Zoey gets older they will get along better. I have also read that desexing Zoey will calm her down and yes, when she is old enough we will just like Bella. We have had Zoey for about two months and have experienced little to no improvement. What are we supposed to do keep them seperated untll she's out of her puppy stages? That could be years before she settles down. And will Bella remember being torcherd by Zoey? I think Bella is jealous of Zoey... Please Help! And yes they are both crate trained but Bella, being older, has learned to behave so she rarely is put in her crate and sleeps in my bed and is free to roam when we are not home. Zoey however, is always in her crate at night and when we are not there. She is a very hyper puppy and we try to give her lots of exercise outside in a pen we have. If we cannot stop this behaviour, we might have to find a new home for Zoey and we really don't want to but we can't have our dogs fighting! Any Advice on what we should do???
