Adult dog peeing in the house-just started
Can anyone help? We have a 4 yr old standard poodle. She is wonderful and sweet. We love her. Her bed is in the family room. Recently we decided to redecorate the room. We removed the rug that was in that room and put it in another room. Then I discovered that she was going to that rug an peeing on it. Did not happen often, but it did. Lasted maybe 4 weeks. Meanwhile, we put a new rug in her room. Then we moved things out of family room and her bed as well. We removed the original rug from another room. Now I discovered that she now peed on the rug in the family room, but only once. we removed the rug and put the plastic on the floor to do the painting and such. Now she was peeing on the plastic but only once in the morning and only in the family room. We pulled a cage out and for a while put her in a cage (a large one, she is comfortable there) every night. then took her for a usual walk every morning. Both her cage and her bed are back in the family room. No problems. We decided to trust her and she is back again peeing only first thing in the morning only in the family room. we are still working on it so there is plastic on the floor. We already used "No Go". no good. the behavior continues.
There are no medical issues. we checked. it is one room she is peeing in, not one spot. we used the enzymatic cleaner to clean. This is the room she sleeps in, so we can not cut her access to it. also, as a family room, there is no door, we could get a gate, but that is not the point. She always asks to go when she needs to. We are not sleeping in, the last time she goes out is about 9 pm and first time someone takes her out is 6 am. She never had a problem with the timing. As a matter of fact, most of the time she does us a favor and walks us for a few minutes, does not do anything, then goes back inside and takes a nap, then about 8am, she goes outside to pee. We always praise her for doing her business outside. That is the point, we followed all the rules and all the good advice in the beginning and she is wonderful. Never a problem, until now. We do crate her now every night, but that is something that I am trying not to do as I feel too sorry for her to do that.
I am completely confused, as she only does it in one room only first thing in the morning. She has the run of the house all day long, no problems. She is not lonely as there is always someone in the house, Can someone please help. I don't know what to do. She is a wonderful dog, we love her dearly. HELP! Thank you
