Unhappy My Dog Pees On My Bed Cant Keep In Crate! Help!

I Have A 4 Year Old Blue Pitbull Named Duke, I Dont Know What To Do With Him Aymore.... He Has Several Problems, We Usto Keep Him In A Crate When We Were Not Home But He Always Managed To Break The Crates. When It Starts Raining He Goes Crazy! In One Instance We Came Home To Find His Dog Crate Destroyed And 2 Brocken Doors!!!! He Got So Scared Because It Was Thundering He Brock Out Of The Cage ,when He Tried To Hide In The Bathroom And Bedroom The Doors Were Closed So He Brock Both Doors. Then We Tried To Put Locks All Around The Crate To Prevent Duke From Bending It But He Could Even Chew Iron. Now We Dicided To Keep Him Out, At First He Was Really Good But Lately We Could Just Be Gone For 1/2 Hour And Find He Urinated In Our Bed And Deficated In The Living Room Carpet And Of Course We Cannot Close Our Doors Because We Are Afraid Of Him Breaking Them.... What Could I Do Next? I Am Desperate I Would Hate To Get Rid Of Him. Besides His Problems His A Really Loving Dog But I Cant Affort Him Anymore. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My goodness what a problem you have with your blue pit bull. The thunder issue is very common with most dogs. He has a lot of frustration in him. He doesn't feel safe anymore. For some reason there is no pack leader in the family. You have to become the leader, before he will remotely come into line. Buy the book Cesar's Way by Cesar Millan to help you with your issues. His approch is not like other dog trainers. He is not a trainer, he rehibilitates his dog owners first, then the dog. If you can't get a grip on his behavior, I would seek out professional help. It would be a shame for him to fall into someone elses home for them to try to resolve his issues. I sure hope he gets help soon, for he is deffinately in need of it. Keep the forum informed of his progress.

Alot of my clients have dogs that are afraid of thunder. Some of them have had to resort to putting their dogs on meds to calm them during the storm. As for the destruction and using the bathroom on your bed it sounds like he may have seperation anxiety. Is he only being destructive when your gone?...Is there a way you can put him in the kitchen and block it off with a baby gate? What exactly triggers his destruction?....You'll need to figure that out before you can work on a solution...Also is he getting plenty of excersise and attention....If not that pent up energy will lead to frustration which will lead to destruction..Also do you allow him to sleep on your bed or your couch?..It will be easier to give you advice if you know what triggers his behavior.

I would contact a trainer or someone specialized in dog behavior. Sounds like the dog is having a time with separation anxiety, maybe too much time alone, boredom and pent up energy. That type of dog has incredible energy and needs to be active for many hours a day.

I'm sure he has a lot of frustration and separation anxiety.
How long do you play with him?
How many times do you walk with him every day?
