Exclamation Need HELP with Dog Aggression

Hi-

I have a 4 yr. old boxer who is the sweetest dog to people but is very dog aggressive. In fact she just attacked a little poodle yesterday and could have killed it. She was in our backyard with my son playing when the neighbors dog came outside and came to her to sniff and get friendly, well my dog freaked and started attacking. If she sees another dog she does not immediately attack, she will respond to my commands, but if the dog gets in her space, she attacks.

She's already neuterred. I got her a year ago from a couple who had 2 other dogs, so I know she can be around other dogs and I had a cat for a while who she did fine with after a week or so.

I love my dog and don't want to get rid of her, but I also don't know that I can afford a dog trainer. I want to get her to the point where other friendly dogs can approach her without her attacking.

I would welcome any advice.

Lightbulb Boisterous, aggressive, skittish, unresponsive, dominant, separation anxiety, jumping?

• Did you know that your dog may not know why you are trying to correct him?
• Need to stop your dog from trying to fight with other dogs
• Want to know how to curb your dog’s aggressiveness?
• Does your dog require urgent dog house training whether you keep your dog indoors or outdoors?
• Sick of having your dog race out the front door?
• Got a dominant dog?
• Separation anxiety getting you both down?
• Hate having your dog jump up on you?
• Neighbors’ getting annoyed with your pet’s constant barking?

Success Story #1: Cynthia Muir and Cara
My dog Cara, thrives on the consistent messages I give her and
she has lots of fun performing the tricks I teach her...

Success Story #2: Susan Caruso
"Jack has made great progress. He has become confident, less anxious and likes to practice commands every day"

Success Story #3: Doug Cummins
"She was very aggressive to strangers in our house...
she is now much much better!"

Success Story #4: Dr. Stanley Hyman
No More Jumping!

Success Story #5: Carla J. Johnson
Gained Control over Dog's Aggression

Success Story #6: Kirsty Halleran
Kirsty's dog used to have "a nervous disposition and a habit of going bonkers through fear by barking, growling and trying to nip/bite",

Success Story #7: Cara McLean
When Cara received SitStayFetch, her dog was "boisterous, aggressive, skittish and unresponsive" and had "serious behavioral issues around food".

Success Story #8: Lori Morina
"I am so relieved to report to everyone that I now have a program that works"

Success Story #9: Alain Dutruy
"I never thought it would be so easy to teach him to be such a good boy. Thank you so much!"

Success Story #10: Lyn Spain
Her 14 month old puppy used to be a little aggressive towards her new 7 week old puppy

Look, if you:

• Want your dog to obey you wherever you go.
• Are experiencing ANY dog behavior problem that needs immediate addressing.
• Have spent lots of time and money on professional dog trainers but have had limited results.
• Are frustrated about how much hard painstaking work you’ve put into your dog obedience training for nothing.
• So outraged by how worthless all the dog obedience training videos, books and professionals you’ve wasted your money on that you feel like beating someone up!

If this is you then

Your search ends here!

I've been having a hard time, too, with one of my dogs. She gets along with most dogs but there are two little Daschounds that bark at her first - and then she wants to attack them.. She is a St Bernard so I can't hold her when she gets into that mindset, but most of the time other dogs come and be nice and she is nice back.

Help.

Default Dog/dog aggression

You should learn about triggers, thresholds, counter conditioning and desensitization. Many of the techniques used with aggressive dogs are similar to those used with scared dogs. There are some good books to check out

Feisty Fido
Click to Calm

You can find them at Working with a fearful dog

There is also a yahoo group called AGBEH that is very good.

I'm having the same problem as you. I just recently looked into doggy daycare. Before you can drop them off, they have to go through extensive testing with different dogs of different sizes. A few people I know said that their dog would never qualify(something I'm saying to myself as well). However when they weren't around their dog was fine around other dogs. I haven't enrolled mine yet but it wasn't that expensive. The initial fee for the testing is about $80 and then its $15 for 6hrs how ever many days you want to take them. Nothing against dog trainer but it did not work fo my dogs. It was expensive and they showed me everything I already knew. I was expecting something more but was very disappointed. I went to another one -same thing. GOOD LUCK!!

Question Dog aggressive towards bigger dogs

Hi..I'm having a similar problem with my 5 year old female cocker spaniel. With dogs smaller than her and that aren't too hyper, she's fine..a little apprehensive but not like she is with dogs that are bigger than her. With them, she seems to hate when they tower over her and it doesn't take long before she is growling and nipping at their face with warnings. I've seen her with a huge lab who thought she was playing and so would continue trying to play with her, only to get aggressive responses from my dog and finally just becoming submissive to her and rolling over onto his back (luckily, his owner assured me he would never retaliate, so I could actually view her behavior with this dog for an extended period of time). After a while, she would start to mount this dog which makes me think this is a dominance issue. If another dog does attack her, she will not back down and eventually I have to pull her off of the dog. It scares me to have her around bigger dogs but a lot of my friends have them and I one day would like to get one. How do I rid her of this behavior? Also..even with smaller dogs, she seems to get irritated if any dog around her is barking or jumping around and hyper..and she practically runs over them when the doorbell rings or someone calls her as if to say she is the boss and they can only get loud or hyper when she permits it. Please help!
