Default my dog pees in the kennel!

My 4 year old beagle has developed a bad habit of urinating in her kennel-regardless of whether we have taken her out to pee. I have cleaned her kennel with all sorts of solutions including bleach, pinesol, soaps etc to get rid of the smells as well as washed the blanket she sleeps on. She has been trained to sleep and rest in her kennel since a puppy and only in this last year has started to urinate in her kennel. How do I get her to stop? HELP!

Default Hello

I'm going by what it said on a DVD, it said that when a dog shows signs of aging, a reason is having wet patches in their bed. This could be the reason

Tiana.

Apparently your kennel is to large for your dog. They should be only be able to stand up and turn around. Bigger than that and they will pee on one end and sleep on the other.

We did buy a pretty big kennel, that could very well be the reason! I will try to shrink it down a little and see where we get. For the last few days I have let her sleep on the floor in our bed room and hang out in the house while we are out and about. So far no accidents and no anxious behavior like scratching the door or tearing things up. It would be nice to have her in the kennel while we are gone for longer periods than a few hours though. I will try the smaller kennel thanks for the post and let me know anything else I should watch out for!

I hope it works for you and your little buddy. I am sure it will. He sounds like a delightful dog. Let us know if it works out.
Have a Good Dog Day
