Question Need help with Strange Recent Behavior

I have a 2 year old Black Lab/Chow chow mix who is locked up in a crate while Im at work during the day and when I get home he is out for the rest of the day and night. He has never, even when we first got him, urinated in the house (we got him from animal shelter at 8 mo., they said he was stray but even then he never once marked his territory inside). He has been a very good dog other than being a hyper puppy. I let him sleep on my bed at night, he'll usually stretch or curl up at the edge near my feet, facing the door like a good guard dog.

All of a sudden, within the last few weeks, he occasionally will pee in his sleep when he is sleeping on my bed. I will usually wake up because I feel my feet are in a wet spot, or I actually hear him licking himself and wake up from that sound. Could something be wrong with him? After the first incident I crated him at night, and then the next day let him back on my bed. He was good for a few days, and then again, he would pee after a few days. Any advice? Do I need to start taking away his water bowl a few hours before bed or is this something serious? Please help. Thanks.

My first suggestion would be to take him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have a kidney or bladder infection...If he clears medically start taking his water away about 2 hours before his bed time and take him out one last time...You may also want to start crating him overnight so that he learns to hold it...I suggest the vet check him out first.

I would definitely start at the veterinarians.. Dogs are den animals it's not a thing they'd do on purpose.
I think after a Dog has had reputation of being clean then suddenly starting to Soil, that is a big indication of medical need or investigation.
Because normally even accidents I don't think the dog would be just laying there doing it.
High Paws to you both!
