My wife and I have a golden retriever who is just about 1 year old. She loves people and other dogs and is really friendly, but she has started to show some erratic behavior. For some reason, she LOVES socks and if she gets a hold of one, she takes it and runs under the bed with it. When she is under the bed with a sock, she is a COMPLETELY different dog. She gets extremely mean. If we call her to come out, she won't. If we try to go under, she begins growling and has even snapped at both of us. We can get her out by offering her something positive (like peanut butter) but I have to believe there is a better way to stop this behavior. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like possibly a hormonal issue. if she is not spayed that is way overdue. either way a trip to the vet is in order.

make sure he checks ( to the extent he can ) for any nurological problem.

if she came from a pet store or byb, these are the kinds of things that happen & reputable breeders are few & far between unfortunately.
